The bitter wind of 10th-century Norway doesn’t care about your honor, but your axe certainly does. If you’ve been itching for a strategy game that captures the brutal weight of a shield wall and the desperate need to rebuild a home from ashes, Arctic Hazard is about to deliver.

Norse: Oath of Blood just revealed a massive gameplay showcase, and it looks like a solid mix of tactical thinking and visceral Viking storytelling.

Vengeance is a Dish Best Served Turn-Based

You aren’t just playing a nameless commander here. You step into the fur-lined boots of Gunnar, a young warrior stripped of his title and home. After his father, Jarl Gripr, was murdered by the rival Steinarr, Gunnar seeks revenge. The execution feels grounded and gritty.

The new gameplay footage shows that this isn’t a button-masher; it’s about smart positioning. You’ll need to use the terrain to your advantage, setting up your drengrs to hold the line while your bogmathrs rain arrows from a distance.

It’s not just about the fighting, though. Between the bloodshed, there’s a heavy focus on reconstruction. You start with a broken clan and must rebuild your village into a fortress. Seeing your settlement grow from a few tents to a thriving hub adds stakes to the combat.

Every upgrade in the village directly impacts what gear your warband carries into the next skirmish.

Norse: Release Date & Pre-Order Breakdown

If you’re on PC, you won’t have to wait long to start your saga. The game hits Steam and Epic Games Store on February 17, 2026. Console players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will have to wait until later this spring..

But If you pre-order now on PC, you get an immediate 15% discount, dropping the price below the standard $34.99 / €33.99. You also lock in “Brokkr’s Bearded Axe,” a weapon that won’t be available after launch. It’s a stat-boosting item that can turn the tide early on.

There’s also a Special Edition ($44.99) that includes the Kievan War armor set and a unique Ulfberht sword. If you care about aesthetics and unique gear, the extra ten bucks might be justified, but the standard edition seems plenty robust for most players.
