Disney Afternoon Collection may finally be coming to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 after 9 years, following a newly spotted ESRB rating.

For many retro fans, The Disney Afternoon Collection is pure nostalgia. When it launched back in 2017, the compilation brought together a lineup of beloved Disney NES-era classics that defined after-school gaming for an entire generation. Featuring faithful emulation, quality-of-life improvements, and bonus museum content, the collection was widely praised for preserving some of Capcom’s best licensed games.

However, one omission stood out from the very beginning. No Nintendo platforms. Despite being a perfect fit for Nintendo’s audience, The Disney Afternoon Collection originally skipped it. But now, nearly nine years later, it looks like that’s about to change.

The Disney Afternoon Collection Rated by ESRB for Nintendo Consoles

The Disney Afternoon Collection first debuted in April 2017 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. At the time, many fans were puzzled by the absence of a Nintendo release. While the Nintendo Switch had just launched that same year, Nintendo also had the 3DS and Wii U then, yet the collection still didn’t release on those.

No official explanation was ever given but after nearly a decade of waiting, Nintendo fans may finally be getting their turn.

First reported by users on ResetEra, an ESRB rating for The Disney Afternoon Collection has surfaced for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Of course, the collection carries an E for Everyone rating, fitting for a family-friendly and pretty wholesome lineup of games.

The collection includes six classic titles including Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers, Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers 2, Darkwing Duck, Duck Tales, Duck Tales 2, and Tale Spin.

These games are widely regarded as some of the finest licensed platformers of the late ’80s and early ’90s so their long-awaited launch on Nintendo hardware is especially fitting.

While an official announcement has yet to be made, an ESRB rating is often a strong indicator that a release is on the way and an announcement soon. Who knows, we may even get a surprise drop during February’s Nintendo Direct.
