Little Nightmares (LN) is the famous horror platformer game series published by Bandai Namco. The series was initially developed by the Tarsier Studios team, with the first chapter released in November 2017 to great success. It was followed by the second chapter, a prequel, in 2021.
This was preceded in 2019 by the acquisition by Embracer Group, with the rights to the series remaining with Bandai Namco. Interested in bringing a new chapter, they entrusted the series to the veteran team at Supermassive Games. A team known for The Dark Pictures Anthology series, but especially for Until Dawn. With October just around the corner, the Bandai Namco team is reminding us of the upcoming launch of the new Little Nightmares III. The new chapter of the terrifying horror platformer series will debut on 10 October 2025. A debut that will be accompanied by Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition. An upgraded version of the fantastic first chapter.
Offering a higher resolution and particularly with quality particle and volumetric effects. Thanks also to the addition of Ray Tracing reflections for an even more terrifying experience. An edition already playable for those who have pre-ordered LN 3. But it’s notably coming for free for those who already own the game on PC, Playstation, and Xbox.

Little Nightmares: No Free Upgrade on Switch and the Latest News
A free upgrade for those who own digital copies, but it notably excludes Nintendo players. Specifically, the Bandai Namco team seems to be talking about “technical limitations” that would not allow the free upgrade on Nintendo Switch 1 either (point 18 of the Q&A). Understandable, given the lack of hardware and power for Ray Tracing features on the original Switch.
But that doesn’t explain why Nintendo Switch 2 users can’t receive the Enhanced Edition for free. Like the rest of the platforms get to enjoy. With the latest news seeing the Bandai team inviting fans of the series to not miss a special premiere on 30 September. Featuring the first showcase of the Sickly Sweet board game, deeply inspired by the world of LN.
