Dune: Awakening Free Weekend Happening Next Week – Explore Arrakis
Funcom has announced that Dune: Awakening will be free to play for an entire weekend, giving fans the chance to explore everything Arrakis has to offer and test the MMO before committing to a purchase. The free weekend will take place next week, beginning on September 11 and ending on September 15.
Dune: Awakening is to open its doors from September 11 to September 15, in the MMO’s largest free weekend yet. The free trial period will be available to all on PC via Steam, and progress will carry forward if you purchase the game afterwards.
During the weekend, players will be able to explore the massive and expansive desert world of Arrakis, engage in PvP-based combat, experience the harsh survival mechanics, and dive into the Chapter 2 free update, which launches two days earlier on September 9.
What’s Included in the Free Weekend
Players jumping into the free weekend will have full access to the game, including its stories, quests, and PvP. In the MMO’s previous free weekend, players could only play it for 10 hours.

- No time restrictions
- All progress is saved, once you buy the game you continue where you left off
- Play with friends who own the game – simply pick the same World/Sietch

Chapter 2 and DLC
Two days before the free weekend, on September 9, Funcom is launching Chapter 2 and The Lost Harvest DLC for Dune: Awakening. Chapter 2 is a free update for the MMORPG, adding the next chapter of the main story, while introducing new locations, contracts, dynamic encounters, and customization options.
The Lost Harvest is a paid DLC that features a complete standalone story, an all-new vehicle called the Treadwheel, additional cosmetics, and the Dune Man building set.

The Dune: Awakening free weekend begins on Septmeber 11 and ends on September 15, and fans can join it by downloading the game on Steam.
