What Is ‘83 and How Is It Linked to Rising Storm?
Rising Storm 2: Vietnam was a massively successful online PvP FPS. Blue Dot Games is looking to build on what made the franchise special by focusing on large-scale, objective-based battles.
Wanting to keep the game an all-out action experience, Blue Dot Games says it wants players to “skip the dull parts” and enter the action fast, with players able to rejoin the fight “within a minute or two” after dying.
Being a team-based and objective-focused game, players must work together to capture strategic points on the map. But don’t fret, it won’t be an endless tug of war. Blue Dot Games says matches will take between 30 and 40 minutes because they don’t want ’83 to be a “huge time sink.”
What the New Trailer Reveals
The new trailer, titled “Cold War Gone Hot,” shows off a realistic and authentic Cold War shooter, with players working together to clear out hostile objectives using weapons from the era.
With less than two minutes of gameplay, the trailer does highlight how players will use cooperation and squad-based tactics to fight the enemy. While not a complete mil-sim, it definitely aims for the realistic and hardcore features of the genre.

’83 is set to launch on Steam Early Access in the fourth quarter of 2025. Blue Dot Games has not yet revealed an exact release date.
