With the Nintendo Switch 2 nearing its second month since launch, new rumors are swirling about a new Nintendo Direct in July, following the release of Donkey Kong Bananza. Let’s dive in and find out more!
Check out the first clues for the Donkey Kong movie!
Nintendo Directs are the special official events and livestreams from Nintendo. These are curated live shows where the Nintendo team usually presents new first-party and third-party games coming to their consoles. The format debuted in 2011 as part of larger events. But by 2013, it had already become a major standalone event.
2025 has already seen a few Directs, with the first dedicated to Pokémon Legends: Z-A for Pokémon Presents. But the big one was on 2 April 2025 with the official reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2, following the January teaser. The most recent one was dedicated to Donkey Kong Bananza on 18 June. New Nintendo Direct: Insider Confirms a July Livestream
With the launch of Donkey Kong Bananza just around the corner, new rumors about a new Nintendo Direct are popping up. July is shaping up to be a pretty intense month, between the launch of the new DK and the Pokémon Presents. Insider NateTheHate seems to confirm a new Direct for July.
According to Nate, this showcase should happen right after the launch of DK Bananza. Most likely, it will be scheduled between 21 and 31 July 2025. The insider says this is because 1 August is the day of the financial report. A Nintendo Direct is also designed to please the investors.

There have been few Switch 2 game announcements since launch… but why? Is there reason behind it & when could we see reveals be made? We discuss.https://t.co/KVYUaPyOZk pic.twitter.com/G9htiBKeEV — NateTheHate2 (@NateTheHate2) July 14, 2025
The Need for a New Direct for Nintendo and Switch 2
So, if what Nate confirms is true, we’re getting a very strategic new Nintendo Direct. It will follow the Pokémon Presents, where we’ll get more news on Pokémon Legends: Z-A. But also the long-awaited Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Kirby Air Riders, and even more first-party news.
Plus, as the insider himself mentions, it seems pretty weird that the various third-party publishers haven’t yet announced their games coming to NS2. The Direct would be the perfect time to show off the games coming in 2025. Especially with third-party games, including cool ports of various AAA games like Cyberpunk 2077. Titles that can generate a ton of hype outside of Nintendo IPs.

In Conclusion
This is some exciting news, though we’ll have to wait and see if it’s accurate. In particular, we’ll see if Nintendo decides to focus on 1st party games with showcases of Metroid 4 and the new Kirby. Or if they’ll also show some of the 3rd party games that the NS2 is capable of running.
Especially from Microsoft’s lineup, including COD, Starfield, Oblivion Remake, and many others. Following their motto of bringing Xbox games to every platform. So, what games do you want to see on Nintendo Switch 2? Let us know in the comments!
