VR Game Gets Mistaken for Apex Legends, Sees Surge in Sales
A VR game that goes by the title Apex Construct has been mistaken for Apex Legends, and it has seen a surge in sales. In a post on Reddit, Fast Travel Games Marketing and Communications Manager Andreas Juliusson shared that Apex Construct suddenly sells well in China in the past seven days, and its Steam page visits have surged to over 4000%. He added that the confusion came from the two games’ similar names and logos – but Juliusson said they came up with the logo first. The Apex Construct Steam page is for the game’s demo only.
Ubisoft Announces Big Changes Coming to Rainbow Six Siege Year 4
The Six Invitational 2019 took place over the weekend, and it includes a livestream which highlights the big changes that are coming to Year 4 of Rainbow Six Siege. According to Ubisoft’s announcement, some of the changes will include friendly fire now doing reverse damage to players. There will also be map changes, including reworks for Kafe Dostoyevsky, Kanal and Theme Park maps. Ghost of a Tale Console Release Delayed to March
Developer SeithCG has announced that its adventure game Ghost of a Tale will be launching in March instead of its scheduled release this month. The game’s exact release date is March 12th, and it will launch for PS4 and Xbox One. The game launched in PC last year, and was crowdfunded back in 2013. It spent some time in Early Access which began in 2016.
Respawn Has Banned Over 16,000 Apex Legends Players for Cheating
Respawn has shared a report in this week’s update for Apex Legends. According to them, they have banned over 16,000 players who have been found cheating. Respawn also asked their players to try and get some evidence of other players cheating and report them to the game’s dedicated reporting page. If no proof is available, players can take note of the player’s ID and flag it and they will investigate.
Julia Chang and The Walking Dead’s Negan Coming to Tekken 7 This Month
Tekken 7 is getting its 8th and 9th DLC Packs, which will both arrive on February 28th. The DLC packs contain new characters: series favorite Julia Chang, and The Walking Dead’s Negan. Julia Chang has appeared in every Tekken game since Tekken 3. Her fighting style consists of slams, punches, and kicks with some acrobatics. Negan, on the other hand, will come with his signature bat which he can use to whack his opponents on the head, and a knife which he can stab them with in the back.
Dota Auto Chess Emerges as 4th Most Popular Game on Steam
A custom game inside Dota 2 has garnered so much attention, it is now the fourth most popular game on Steam. The custom game is called Dota Auto Chess, and it has reached 300,000 concurrent players, and currently has over 4 million total subscribers. The game launched in January 2019, and is a mod for Dota 2. As its name suggests, players will control a team of heroes and must strategically place them on a chess-like board. These heroes have health, mana, damage, armor, and abilities which they can use against enemies.
Soulcalibur 6 Adds Amy Sorel as DLC Character
Another DLC character is heading to SoulCalibur 6. This time, it’s the goth-lolita fighter Amy Sorel. She was first introduced as Raphael’s daughter in SoulCalibur 2, then later joined the roster in SoulCalibur 3. At the recently concluded EVO in Japan, Bandai Namco said Amy does not have a definite release date yet, but she’s definitely joining the roster soon.
Destiny 2’s Trials of the Nine Won’t Be Back for the Meantime
Bungie has announced that Destiny 2’s Trials of the Nine won’t be returning to the game anytime soon. The company said they are still trying to find ways how to make the said mode work with Destiny 2’s current state. Bungie said in its announcement that they don’t “have a timeline for when it may return.” Bungie adds, “Until we have a solid prototype for a pinnacle PvP endgame activity, Trials is staying on hiatus indefinitely and will not return over the course of the next few seasons.”
Duplicate Fallout 76 Items Removed
Duping, a term used by gamers for duplicating items, has been widely used in Fallout 76 after an exploit that allows players to replicate items in their inventory has been discovered. Players who used this exploit replicated their high-tier items and then sold them for real-life money in ebay. Bethesda announced that they took care of this problem over the weekend, and that duplicated items have already been taken out of inventories of exploiting players.
Final Fantasy 15 Cars Coming to Forza Horizon 4
Two Final Fantasy 15 cars are heading to Forza Horizon 4. The first one is the regular Quartz Regalia, and then the off-road monster truck-like vehicle Type-D. These two cars can be earned in Forza Horizon 4’s Series 6 update which will roll out on February 21st. Final Fantasy 15’s Regalia has other game crossovers, including Final Fantasy 14 this year. Forza Horizon also had another vehicle cross-over from Halo which brought the Puma to the game.
Resident Evil 2’s Free 1998 Costumes Now Available
Resident Evil 2 players who want a bit of nostalgia added in the game will be happy to know that Leon and Claire’s costumes from the game’s 1998 version have been added to the game. These came with the game’s free Ghost Survivors DLC. There’s a catch though. Although the DLC’s content were added automatically, players who want these skins have to add them manually to their Steam Library.
Rainbow Six Siege Burnt Horizon Operators Fully Revealed
At the Six Invitational, Ubisoft fully unveiled the Operators Gridlock and Mozzie for Rainbow Six Siege Operation: Burnt Horizon. The developer released a video titled “Rainbow Six Siege: Burnt Horizon Operators Gameplay and Gadget Starter Tips” which showed exactly that. BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle Gets Four New DLC Characters
Arc System Works’ fighting game BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle is poised to receive four new DLC characters. With the announcement came a trailer that displays all four characters: Teddy from Persona 4 Arena, Naoto Kurogane of BlazBlue: Central Fiction, Seth from Under Night In-Birth, and Heart Aino from Arcana Heart 3. These newly announced characters will join the roster in Spring of this year, pushing the total DLC characters to 21. BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle is currently available on PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Specialist Outrider Teased for Next Black Ops 4 Update
The Call of Duty official twitter account tweeted a short video teasing a new specialist. The 2 second video showed a character running through a forest with a bow equipped. Said character is reminiscent of the highly demanded Specialist Outrider. However, the nature of a tease is to generate interests without confirmation, so to know exactly what was teased players will need to wait for the February 19 update to know for sure. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
Rainbow Six Siege’s Ranked Mode Leaves Beta This Year
Ubisoft recently announced that Rainbow Six Siege’s ranked mode will be leaving beta before July of this year. The mode has spent over three years in a beta stage so it will be a change welcomed by the fans. This announcement was one of the many items on the developer’s list of quality of life improvements. Ubisoft shared that they will continue to make necessary improvements to the mode until it meets a standard ready for final release. Players can now be assured, knowing that ranked mode is now a Ubisoft Priority.
Trials Rising’s Open Beta Schedule Detailed
Ubisoft’s Trials Rising Open Beta date has been announced and the details revealed. The full game is projected to launch on February 26, 2019 but this announcement is sure to excite players as they will be able to play it before then. Trials Rising Open Beta commences on February 21 until February 25 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. A special set of features and progression flow will be accessible during the Open Beta. First Jump Force Patch Allows Players to Skip Cutscenes
BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe announced via twitter that Jump Force’s first patch will enable players to skip cut-scenes. Apparently this was a major request of the players as this was one of four incoming changes shared by the developer. The other changes are Loading time improvements, Battle bug fixes and Stability fixes. The devs also thanked all the fans for their continued support in the same tweet. BANDAI NAMCO has not yet shared the date on which these changes are expected to arrive.
Dead Cells’ Pimp My Run Update Now on Consoles
Motion Twin has launched the new “Pimp my Run” update on consoles for their Metroidvania game Dead Cells. Previously, only the PC version of the game had this update, and now finally console players can enjoy it too. The update sees a stable 60FPS mode added to the Nintendo Switch. Minecraft’s Latest Update Allows Players to Watch Movies on In-Game TVs
Minecraft’s latest snapshot update 19w07a enables players to create animated paintings which is now being manipulated in such a way that players can watch full-length films on widescreen TV’s in-game. The last update, the players were able to do this by dissecting paintings and stitching together different parts to create their desired motion picture. Minecraft has always attracted some of the most creative gamers and their most recent exploits further corroborates that claim.
Nintendo Claims That Bayonetta 3 is Coming Later This Year
In a podcast interview, Nintendo Senior Product Marketing Manager Bill Trinnen included Bayonetta 3 when asked to list games that are to be expected in 2019. He said “Bayonetta 3 is still in the works…and of course that’s another game that’s maybe coming a little bit sooner than people anticipated. Later this year” to be exact. This is certainly exciting news for fans of the Beyonetta series. However, this has been the only mention of the news, so as good as it sounds it is unconfirmed and unofficially announced.
Vermintide 2 is Getting Weekly Challenges
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is preparing to celebrate its first anniversary and in doing so, Fatshark is adding a new weekly challenge system. The developer is also including a series of paintings for players to collect and hang in their Keep. The weekly challenges will provide a remixed mission from the campaign and the usual loot-based rewards. The paintings to be included is a way of brandishing your in-game achievements for anyone who joins your game. More information on the update will come on March 8.
