Falcom: refint/games announces a delay of a few months for the enhanced port of Ys vs. Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga

Trails in the Sky: 1st Chapter is the long-awaited remake of the first chapter in the famous JRPG series by Falcom. A remake that comes over 20 years after the original’s launch on PSP in 2004 in Japan. It only landed globally on PSP in 2011 and in 2014 on PC. Featuring a 3D remake more in line with the more recent chapters of the Trails series.

Meanwhile, Ys vs. Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga is an enhanced port of the isometric fighting game. Bringing the colorful cast from Falcom’s two famous JRPG franchises to clash in a Smash Bros-style brawler. Trails in the Sky: 1st Chapter Shows Off a New Promo Trailer

Just a month before the launch of the highly anticipated Trails in the Sky: 1st Chapter, the team at GungHo Entertainment has dropped a brand new Promo Trailer. The global launch will be simultaneous between Japan and the West for the famous remake of the first chapter of Falcom’s JRPG series.

The trailer takes us back to relive the beginnings of the series in the Kingdom of Liberl. In an adventure that will see the two youngsters Estelle Bright and Joshua Graham explore the world. Along with various companions, they’ll face challenges in a world during the transitional phase known as The Orbal Revolution. Finally, it reminds us of the launch scheduled for 19 September 2025 on PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

 

Ys vs. Trails in the Sky: Alternative Saga – Delay of a Few Months Confirmed

While on one hand, we have the punctual launch of the Remake of the First Trails, unfortunately, there’s bad news regarding Alternative Saga. The team at refint/games announced on 15 August 2025 a delay of a few months. The game, in its enhanced version, was supposed to debut in Summer 2025.

The team confirms the decision to delay is due to an external issue that caused a development halt. Sad news for fans who are discussing the possible cause. It could possibly be from the implementation of Rollback for online play, or due to the new English voice acting. With the SAG-AFTRA strike having concluded back in July 2025, but with voice actors potentially busy on various projects.
