System Shock 2.1 Reaches Full Platform Parity

Nightdive Studios just hit a massive milestone with the System Shock remake. Update 2.1 is officially live across all hardware environments.

Internally dubbed the “Parity Patch,” this massive free update syncs PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo consoles to the exact same build. Nobody gets left behind on an older version anymore.

According to the official patch notes, the team focused heavily on core gameplay adjustments. Level design across Realspace and Cyberspace received targeted balance tweaks and overhauled lighting.


Huge Gains for Switch and Switch 2 Players

The most aggressive technical upgrades target the Nintendo Switch family. Previous performance complaints on the newer hardware have been completely squashed.

Nintendo Switch 2 now targets a rock-solid 60fps at 1440p docked—dropping to a crisp 1080p in handheld mode. It also takes full advantage of the fresh Joy-Con 2 Mouse Mode alongside Gyro aiming.

Older hardware still gets love. The original Switch now renders at up to 900p docked and 720p handheld using a dynamic resolution scaler.

Audio mixing got some much-needed attention this time around. The dynamic music system transitions much cleaner during deep station exploration.

Background tracks and sound effects now automatically lower when you trigger an Audio Log. You won’t struggle to hear crucial story beats over the roar of a mutant encounter.

The studio even integrated popular community mods directly into the official build. Huge props to community member Vikxen for refining specific textures and audio logs.

Finally, PS4 and PS5 players get fully functional Mouse and Keyboard support. Controller players across the board benefit from rebuilt gamepad aiming and refined cursor sensitivity.
