The horizon is calling, but this time, you aren’t just hunting for gold. You are hunting for your past. Sea of Remnants invites players to hoist the sails in a world where memories are the ultimate treasure.
A new gameplay trailer just dropped, and it shreds the standard pirate rulebook. It showcases a vibrant, punk-infused ocean filled with bizarre monsters and ship-to-ship combat that looks deceptively deep.
Sea of Remnants: Charting Course for the Alpha
NetEase and Joker Studio are finally letting players steer the ship. The “Wanderer Test” Closed Alpha runs officially from February 5 to February 12.
Testers will experience the game’s multiple combat systems and activities. You’ll engage in real-time naval warfare—blasting enemy hulls with cannons—or roast them up in turn-based combat with tremendously stylish attacks. Alternatively, simply roam the seas and engage in various minigames involving sea creatures. Or maybe what fits the olde scurvy dog in you is a drinking contest in the tavern?
The Alpha also introduces a vibrant world that compels the players to go out and explore, finding dungeons filled with dangers and puzzles that only wait for the player to solve them. On the other hand, the world seems to be full of interesting characters and shows a lot of different minigames as well as some customizations. Let’s hope there’s gonna be a bit of housing as well, at least on our ship.
SoR vs The Clock: Secure Your Spot
If you want to be among the first captains, you must act fast. The registration window closes on January 22.
Missing this deadline leaves you stranded on the dock while others explore the “Sea of Remnants.” To sign up, head directly to the official Steam page or the Sea of Remnants Discord server.
Look for the recruitment questionnaire here. It takes less than a minute, but the reward is a full week of exclusive access to one of 2026’s most intriguing RPGs.
Verdict: Is Sea of Remnants the New Sea of Thieves?
Comparisons to Sea of Thieves are inevitable, but Sea of Remnants carves its own lane. While Sea of Thieves relies on PvP fights and social chaos, Remnants leans hard into the RPG style with a lot of side activities.
The turn-based fights, the tons of minigames and the “Puppetfolk” aesthetic gives it a distinct identity. It prioritizes strategy and narrative memory-recovery over the sandbox anarchy of its competitor.
If you love the pirate theme but crave a deeper story and turn-based combats, this could be the game that finally makes you jump ship.
Are you ready to recover your lost memories, or does the pirate life demand too much strategy for you?

I will for sure check this game out, it has a very unique art style and interesting gameplay to me. Sadly however from what people have been saying and from what I could tell its a gacha game, but depending on how they treat the players I'll at the very least give it a good try. The latest trailer also looked pretty good so I'm pretty excited about it. Hope I'll get into the test
