Despite its tactical promise, PUBG: Blindspot, the experimental top-down shooter from Krafton and ARC Team, has officially reached the end of its journey after the studio announced it was shutting down the game’s servers on March 30, 2026.

On March 30, 2026, the servers for PUBG: Blindspot will shut down for good. Launched into Early Access just 53 days prior on February 5, the tactical shooter’s rapid closure serves as a stark reminder of the volatility within the modern live-service landscape.

Announcing the decision on the game’s Steam community page, ARC Team’s Sequoia Yang thanked fans for the support, but said the studio had failed to come up with an adequate way to move the game forward.

The End of PUBG: Blindspot – Why the Servers Went Dark?

According to an official statement from Sequoia Yang, the team couldn’t “sustainably provide the level of experience” they originally promised during the Early Access phase.

Maintaining a live-service game requires a large and consistent audience, which Blindspot never managed to achieve. At launch, the game reached a peak of only 3,251 players and has since dropped to fewer than 200 daily concurrent players on Steam.

The decision to cut losses early suggests that Krafton and ARC Team didn’t see a path to profitability or a way to fix the matchmaking issues caused by the low player count. Instead of dragging out a slow decline, they opted for a clean, albeit jarring, break.

A Tactical Experiment Cut Short: Gameplay & Community Reception

On paper, PUBG: Blindspot was a fascinating pivot for the franchise. It swapped the traditional third-person survival for a 5v5 top-down tactical perspective. Players picked specific agents and focused on squad synergy, using destruction mechanics to clear rooms.

While Steam reviews were generally favorable, the praise didn’t translate into active users. The core PUBG audience largely stayed away, and tactical shooter fans seemingly stuck to established giants like Rainbow Six Siege.

What’s Next for Krafton and ARC Team?

This failure doesn’t mean the end of the PUBG universe. Krafton is still betting big on the brand with upcoming projects like Project Black Budget, a highly anticipated extraction shooter.

The original PUBG: Battlegrounds also remains a massive earner, consistently sitting at the top of the charts. For now, Blindspot will be remembered as a bold experiment that couldn’t find its footing in a cutthroat industry.
