Granblue Fantasy: Relink (GFR) is an action-adventure RPG developed by Cygames, Inc, a Japanese development studio that’s especially well-known and active in the mobile gaming space. They’re particularly famous for the gacha game Granblue Fantasy (GF), which debuted back in 2014. Given the game’s huge success, they decided to expand the GF universe.

First came Fantasy Versus, a fighting game created in collaboration with Arc System Works in 2020. Then came a more ambitious game in Relink, which launched on February 1, 2024, for PS5, PS4, and PC. Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Hits the New 2 Million Milestone

Over a year after its launch, the CyGames team has shared the news of a new milestone for Granblue Fantasy: Relink. The team announced on July 2, 2025, that their more traditional action RPG adventure has reached 2 million copies sold worldwide. This announcement also comes more than a year after hitting the first million.

That first record was set at launch in just 11 days, marking GFR as one of the most popular titles of 2024. The team is celebrating the news with a special piece of artwork, thanking the skyfarers (players) for the new milestone. Additionally, director Tetsuya Fukuhara shared a statement on PR Times, where he thanked fans for the tremendous enthusiasm the game has received.

What’s New with Granblue Fantasy: Relink and CyGames

GFR was designed as a complete, more traditional game rather than a live-service/gacha title. It received new content and fixes up until June 2024. Although some fans were disappointed and would have liked to see more content. Among the latest news, the game will be part of the lineup at Japan Expo 2025 in Paris from July 3rd to 6th.

As for CyGames’ future plans, we know the team is already working on a few titles. Specifically, we have Project Awakening, announced in 2018 as an open-world RPG in the style of Monster Hunter and Dragon’s Dogma. Besides that, there’s a new title in the Metal Max series and the action game Garnet Arena: Mages of Magicary. Dates and details are still to be revealed.
