These Games Are Shutting Down Servers This Month

Several major online games are closing their servers this month, including Apex Legends on Switch and Warface Clutch. Here is the full list.

These Games Are Shutting Down Servers August 2026
Key Takeaways
  • Apex Legends will end support on the original Nintendo Switch hardware this month, transitioning future updates to the Switch 2.
  • After 13 years of service, the console servers for the online-only shooter Warface Clutch will permanently shut down on August 25.
  • An offline version of Let It Die is confirmed for release in Fall 2026 to preserve the game after its servers are taken offline.

Server Shutdowns Scheduled for August 2026

We have a few server shutdowns scheduled this month, all of which have already been delisted for a few months. While titles like NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 and NHL 22 will close their servers on all platforms, we also have some that are platform-specific.

Apex Legends and Aliens Fireteam Elite are both leaving Nintendo Switch but under different circumstances. Apex Legends will continue on Nintendo hardware through the Switch 2 version, while Aliens Fireteam Elite, which was released on Switch as a cloud title, will no longer be playable on Nintendo platforms once its service ends. There is also Tearaway which is a PlayStation-exclusive game so its server shutdown is limited to Sony’s platform.

While most of the games will have an offline mode available after the shutdown date, Warface Clutch is an exception being an online-only game. Its PC servers already closed in May so this month’s console shutdown is the last time anyone can play the game after 13 years of service.

Let It Die is another online-only game but unlike Warface Clutch, an offline version is announced for release in Fall 2026.

Here are all the games currently confirmed for server shutdown this month:

  • Apex Legends for Nintendo Switch (August 4, 2026)
  • Tearaway for PS Vita/PS4 (August 13, 2026)
  • NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 (August 20, 2026)
  • WWE 2K Battlegrounds (August 20, 2026)
  • Warface: Clutch (August 25, 2026)
  • Aliens: Fireteam Elite for Nintendo Switch (August 26, 2026)
  • NHL 22 (August 31, 2026)
  • NHL 23 (August 31, 2026)
  • Let It Die (August 31, 2026)
  • Infamous 2 (August 31, 2026) *UGC servers
