Aliens Fireteam Elite has quietly reached the end of the line on Nintendo Switch. The game has now been delisted from the Nintendo eShop, with no prior warning, and an in-game notice confirms that servers will be shutting down later this year. For players who picked it up, there’s still a limited window to play, but for everyone else, the door has already closed.
Aliens Fireteam Elite Exits Nintendo
After just two years on the platform, Alien Fireteam Elite has officially been delisted from the Nintendo eShop as of last Friday. There was no advance notice from Cold Iron Studios leading up to its removal, making the sudden disappearance a disappointing surprise for players who may have been planning to pick it up.
Because this version of the game was released as a cloud title, there’s no physical alternative to fall back on. Anyone who didn’t purchase it before the delisting no longer has a way to access it on Switch. For those who already own it, access remains for now but that window is closing soon.
An in-game announcement confirms that the game will only be playable until August 5, 2026 at 7:59AM PT / 10:59AM ET, / 2:59 PM GMT. Once that time hits, servers will shut down completely, and the Switch version will no longer be accessible. The only way to continue playing Aliens Fireteam Elite after that point will be on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox platforms.
The exit from Switch doesn’t come entirely out of nowhere though. Since launch, the switch version has faced a steady stream of complaints, particularly around performance and stability. For now, it’s unclear if the game could eventually return on Switch 2 after improvements are made, but as it stands, this chapter is coming to a close.
