Fortnite Save the World Becomes Free to Play – The Original PvE Mode Is Finally Free
Many players today mainly associate Fortnite with the Battle Royale mode. But in 2017, Fortnite originally launched as a co-op PvE game called Save the World. Even back then it was announced that Save the World would eventually become Free to Play. And eventually is now, because Fortnite Save the World will become Free to Play in April 2026. Fortnite Save the World is a co-op PvE mode where players fight monsters together. The enemies are called Husks, which appear from portals and attack your bases. The missions can be played solo or in co-op with up to four players. There are different heroes from various classes such as Soldier, Ninja, Constructor, and Outlander. Each hero has unique abilities and strengths that help in the fight against the Husks. In addition, the mode offers its own story campaign centered around the mysterious Storm catastrophe.
Save the World becomes Free to Play – What changes for players
Epic Games will make the mode free for everyone in April 2026. This means Save the World will be accessible to all Fortnite players without purchase for the first time since its release. Epic’s goal is to attract new players and bring the PvE mode back to life. If you register now, you will receive cosmetic rewards for the mode. Players who already own the mode will not miss out either, as they will receive items such as Gold and upgrade materials. Players with Founder status will still keep special advantages such as earning V-Bucks through missions.
