Remember Forgotton Anne? If you played that gem, you know exactly why the silence around its spiritual successor has been so loud.
After a string of delays that pushed the launch all over the calendar, the wait is finally over. Forgotlings isn’t just a concept anymore; it’s hitting our screens in a matter of days.

Finally Landing on PC
Throughline Games and Hitcents just confirmed the date. Forgotlings officially launches on February 17, 2026, for PC via Steam. Console players need to hold on a little longer—those versions are coming, but the date remains TBD. For PC gamers, it’s go-time.
The studio poured thousands of hand-drawn animation frames into this project, creating something that feels less like a video game and more like a living, breathing animated movie. You’re not just controlling a character; you’re directing a scene in real-time.
Fig’s Journey: The Mechanics
While the anime-inspired aesthetic grabs you, the gameplay loop keeps you there. This is a 2.5D semi-open world Metroidvania where you play as Fig, a sentient wooden posing doll trying to unite warring tribes of lost objects.
You aren’t stuck on a linear path. As captain of the ship Volare, you choose your destination. The game gives you agency:
- Stealth vs. Combat: Sneak past bandits or take them head-on.
- The INA Mini-game: Connect with NPCs by playing a popular in-world pastime called INA.
- Exploration: Expect backtracking, unlocking new movement abilities, and finding secrets tucked away in the corners of this “forgotten” world.
The atmosphere does a lot of the heavy lifting, featuring a score by the Theatre of Voices that adds a haunting layer to the visual charm.

Verdict: Animation Meets Action
If you appreciate games where art direction is king—think Gris or Cuphead—this looks like an instant classic. The blend of cinematic storytelling with actual Metroidvania mechanics (rather than just walking simulator elements) promises a deep experience.
The multiple delays suggest the developers took their time to polish the experience rather than rushing it out. With the release just around the corner, we’ll see if the gameplay matches the incredible visuals.
