With an explosive launch, ARC Raiders isn’t slowing down, with new word from Nexon confirming a whopping 4 Million copies sold worldwide for Embark Studios’ extraction shooter!

ARC Raiders continues its climb to success, hitting over 700,000 peak players and 4 Million copies!

ARC Raiders is the PvPvE-style extraction shooter developed by Embark Studios. The Swedish dev studio founded in 2018 debuted in 2023 with the Free-to-Play FPS, The Finals. It saw huge initial success thanks to a solid and well-made experience.

Officially announcing ARC Raiders as an extraction shooter experience, also in 2023, following the reveal at TGA 2021. With the first playtests in 2024, followed by Tech Test 2 in April 2025. Leading to the launch announcement for 30 October 2025, back in June during the Summer Game Fest.

ARC Raiders hits a new record of 4 Million

As ARC Raiders kicks off its second week, fantastic news is rolling in, not just from the Embark Studios team but from Nexon too. The parent company announced in a press release on PR Times that just dropped today, 11 November 2025.

Confirming that the Swedish team’s PvPvE extraction shooter has surpassed 4 Million copies worldwide. The Embark Studios team itself also recently confirmed a peak of over 700,000 players across all platforms. 462,688 of those were on Steam alone, hit on Sunday, 9 November.

The secret to Embark Studios’ and ARC Raiders’ success

Hands down, the Embark Studios team had an incredible launch with ARC Raiders. They successfully carved out a spot for their title in the highly competitive extraction shooter genre. They delivered a solid title overall and made it more accessible thanks to a more casual experience.

It’s also one of the few Unreal Engine 5 titles (Nvidia branch) with solid performance, even on older hardware. And the team is enthusiastic and communicative, having already revealed the Roadmap for 2025 and adding improvements to the experience

But Embark Studios Isn’t Dodging Criticism

An incredible launch, but it definitely didn’t come without various criticisms and problems. On one hand, we had technical issues related to inadequate servers to handle all these players. Many of whom couldn’t even play on launch day.

On the other hand, there’s also criticism over the use of AI, especially for voices co-created with real voice actors, which didn’t sit well with many. In a climate that’s definitely hostile to the use of AI tools, even though the team has always been upfront about it. Given that they used it (the voices) on The Finals too.

In Conclusion: A Strong First Impression

We’re still just in the second week for ARC Raiders, but the Swedish team’s extraction shooter has clearly hit the mark and won over a lot of people. With a team that has already shown it listens to the community and actively delivers updates. Now, we just have to see if this initial momentum can keep going in the long run and what’s next for the team.

So, have you tried ARC Raiders yet? Tell us in the comments about your first experience and what you’d like to see in the future!
