New World, Better Combat, Epic Loot: Aloft’s Massive Update Finally Has a Release Date
If you’re a fan of survival, exploration, and sandbox games—especially when played in co-op—then buckle up, because I’ve got something for you. It’s Aloft, a game that launched in January this year and is about to receive a massive update that will make it even better.
The new Aloft update is called Bloom & Blight and will release on November 4th. It’s the game’s most ambitious update yet, aiming to revamp and enhance nearly every aspect of the experience.
Aloft’s World Becomes More Lively and Dense
Aloft takes place in a world of floating islands. The world generation system for these islands is being fundamentally reworked. Islands will now appear denser and more rewarding to explore. Reimagined Progression and Gameplay Systems
I already mentioned Clairvoyance, but let’s go deeper into what it actually means in-game. Clairvoyance is a new resource system in Aloft. You’ll need it to progress through the skill trees—essentially, it acts as a form of currency. The technology and research trees have also been completely redesigned. There are now three distinct trees (Knowledge, Sailing, Research), making progression more organized and also a bit more strategic.
Combat is also seeing major improvements. Battles will become more dynamic, reactions will be faster, balancing will be better, and there will be generally more action. There’s also more flexibility to counter enemy attacks, making combat feel less static. Additionally, you can now perform jump attacks and upward strikes to hit enemies from the air.
New Threats, New Rewards
The update also introduces new forms of corruption—a fresh threat with higher risks and tougher challenges. Of course, the rewards are greater too, including stronger weapons, tools, and gear available at higher loot tiers. These will give players more reasons to keep pushing into endgame content.
Aloft Wipe – A Fresh Start
Because this update changes nearly everything in the game, a full save wipe will be required. This means that previous saves are incompatible with the updated world structures and features. To experience the new update in its full form, you’ll need to start a new save file and begin your journey from scratch. But with so much new content to explore, it’s the perfect time for both newcomers and returning players to jump back in with friends and discover the skies anew.
