007 First Light Delayed: Official New Release Date Confirmed
James Bond’s latest mission has officially been aborted for the time being. IO Interactive has confirmed that 007 First Light will miss its initial launch window, pushing the highly anticipated release into late spring.
007 First Light, initially slated for a March release date, has officially been pushed back until May 27, 2026, by developer IO Interactive to “ensure” the spy thriller “meets the level of quality” players deserve.
In a statement on Bluesky, IOI CEO Hakan Abrak said the “additional two months will allow us to further polish and refine the experience.”

007 First Light: The New Timeline
Abrak stepped in to manage the fallout immediately, stating that “the game is progressing well and is fully playable from beginning to end,” emphasizing the team’s focus on delivering a quality product at launch.
Reassuring fans, he says the development team is “confident this sets 007 First Light up for long-term success” as it attempts to deliver an “unforgettable James Bond experience” on May 27, 2026.
IOI vs The Hype
This news comes hot on the heels of the impressive Game Awards trailer featuring Lenny Kravitz. That footage set expectations incredibly high.
The Studio has admitted that 007 First Light is “fully playable” from start to finish right now. The delay isn’t about finishing the story, but about stability, frame rates, and bug squashing.
