Xbox Game Pass Essential Gets a 3-Game Drop on its Last Update for 2025
Another 3-game drop lands on Xbox Game Pass Essential, adding to the well-curated catalog of high quality games available for the tier.
Today marks the third update this year, but technically the first one since Xbox Game Pass Core was renamed Xbox Game Pass Essential. Although the name changed, everything about it remains the same. Members still have access to limited but high-quality games which are updated a few times a year.
New Games On Xbox Game Pass Core Library
2025 saw three updates to the Essential (previously Core) library with the first in March and then in September. Now, before the year ends, Microsoft is adding 3 more incredible titles to its catalog.
As part of the Game Pass December announcement, it was also revealed that Essential members are getting 3 new games today. Stellaris, World War Z: Aftermath, and Medieval Dynasty are now part of the tier’s catalog.
- Stellaris – a grand sci-fi strategy game where you explore a procedurally generated galaxy, meet alien species, and build a customizable empire through diplomacy, discovery, and war.
- World War Z: Aftermath – a co-op zombie shooter that sends squads across the globe to survive massive cinematic hordes, featuring new enemies, classes, Horde Mode XL, and a fresh first-person/melee combat option.
- Medieval Dynasty – a first-person survival and town-building sim where you hunt, farm, craft, and grow a medieval settlement into a lasting family legacy through the seasons.
There is no news as to whether some games are leaving the Essential catalog before the end of the year. If it stays as it is though, there are now 55 high quality games available for all its members.
