Wanderstop Studio Ivy Road is Shutting Down This Month
Ivy Road, the studio behind Wanderstop, is shutting down March 31, 2026, due to funding issues despite the game’s success.
Just a few days ago, we reported the closure of Dark Outlaw Games. Now, another studio is facing the end of the line as Ivy Road, the team behind the popular Wanderstop, has announced it will be shutting down at the end of this month.
Ivy Road Studio Closes Its Doors
Wanderstop launched in March 2025 and quickly made a name for itself with its creative gameplay, charming visuals, and clever mechanics. The game earned awards and nominations, and players gave it high marks across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Despite all that success, it wasn’t enough to keep Ivy Road open. The studio announced it will officially close on March 31, 2026.
The closure comes after the studio struggled to secure funding for its next project, Engine Angel. While the team had high hopes for this new venture, they were unable to find a publishing partner or sufficient investment, leaving them with no choice but to shut down.

As for Wanderstop, the game will continue to be available on its current platforms. Future support including bug fixes and feedback, will be handled by Annapurna Interactive. But before the end, Ivy Road teased of a special surprise for the game, which they’ve been developing over the past year to help Wanderstop reach new players. Fans can expect more news on this from Annapurna in the future, along with a “Chapter Select” feature to revisit specific moments of the game.
As the studio noted, making games requires not only skill and passion but also a fair share of luck, timing, and financial backing, factors that can often make or break even the most talented teams.
The gaming industry continues to see studio closures and game cancellations right and left, and unfortunately, it seems like this trend may continue in the foreseeable future.
