As speculation about a next-gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2 intensifies, a new clue has reignited excitement among fans.
A Potential Comeback for Red Dead Redemption 2
While GTA 6 continues to dominate the headlines, fans of Rockstar Games haven’t forgotten the long-standing rumor surrounding Red Dead Redemption 2. Whispers of a return for the 2018 masterpiece have been circulating for months, suggesting an enhanced release for current-gen consoles—and perhaps even a version for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
Despite no official confirmation, the evidence is piling up. And this week, yet another hint has appeared.
A Curious Update on Steam
After several mysterious tweaks to Rockstar’s official website over the summer, Red Dead Redemption 2’s Steam page has now been quietly updated. The change, though subtle, hasn’t gone unnoticed: Rockstar modified the game’s description—something rarely done years after release. Even more intriguing? The reference to Red Dead Online has been removed entirely.
This detail has sparked speculation that a next-gen edition could be coming soon, possibly without its online component. However, fans shouldn’t jump to conclusions just yet—on the Epic Games Store, the game’s description still includes Red Dead Online, suggesting the omission on Steam might simply be a technical adjustment.

The Long-Running Rumor That Won’t Die
As always, caution is key. Rockstar has made no official announcement regarding a next-gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2. The studio remains characteristically silent about its plans, keeping players guessing even as GTA 6 inches closer to release.
That said, if these rumors ever prove true, the news would undoubtedly thrill fans eager to experience Arthur Morgan’s saga in full next-gen glory.
A Wider Context: Rockstar’s Modernization Trend
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Rockstar has refreshed one of its classics. The studio recently revisited the original Red Dead Redemption, bringing it to newer platforms. It wouldn’t be surprising, then, if Red Dead Redemption 2 received similar treatment to ensure its longevity in the new console generation.
This move could also be part of a broader strategy to keep the Red Dead franchise relevant ahead of the GTA 6 launch.

Red Dead Redemption 2 still looks incredible on PC, it would benefit from some extra settings for newest hardware capabilities sure, but I'd rather see Rockstar making new IPs or outsourcing to remake/remaster older projects. The Steam version of Bully is very unstable and it was a game that I wouldn't mind playing again.
