Microsoft Brings Steam Games to Xbox App on PC Starting This Week

Microsoft Reveals Aggregated Gaming Library to Xbox PC App
There’s been growing discussion that the future of gaming is shifting toward PC. While console gamers may have once dismissed this, they’re not so quick to shrug it off anymore. In fact, both PlayStation and Xbox have already made moves to connect more closely with PC platforms. For Microsoft, its latest step is one of the biggest yet.
With this update, the Xbox app for Windows 11 PCs and handheld devices will now show the new Aggregated Gaming Library which includes:
- Your full Xbox game library
- Hundreds of Game Pass titles (for members)
- Installed games from other PC storefronts (Steam and Battle.net)
According to the official announcement, Microsoft will extend this feature to even more PC storefronts in the future. So expect support for the Epic Games Store and GOG to follow.
How to access the Xbox Aggregated Gaming Library?
This new feature isn’t launching to everyone immediately. The rollout begins this week for members of the Xbox Insider program. It’s the first wave of availability, giving Microsoft time to gather feedback and fine-tune the experience.
For those eligible now, your Steam and Battle.net games will start appearing automatically under the “My Library” or “Most Recent” tabs in the Xbox PC app. If you prefer not to see them yet though, you can “Hide” the specific storefronts in the Library & Extensions settings.

For what I understand this is similar to what GOG Galaxy does, that it embeds the games and lets you launch them from their launcher. It is cool, yes, but you end up having an extra launcher just to see all games together. I’m the kind of player that prefers every game in their ‘home’ and launch it from there. I do not link accounts, never, but I guess people will love this feature, a great idea from Microsoft.
