Farming Simulator has finally gotten that one feature fans have been requesting for years: fishing. To be fair, many farmers in real life fish, whether for food, fun, or profit, so it just makes sense for it to be part of the game. It may have taken a while but Giants Software is now bringing it.
The Farming Simulator 25 Highlands Fishing DLC launches on November 4th for PC and consoles. You can preorder it now, either as a standalone DLC or bundled with the base game. If you already own the Year 1 Season Pass, the DLC will unlock automatically on release day.
This DLC introduces aquaculture, a brand-new map, new machines, and fresh gameplay mechanics. And don’t worry, it’s not all heavy-duty work. Leisure fishing with rod and reel is included.
But as always, the heart of Farming Simulator is still farming, and the expansion builds on that with exciting new systems. The highlight feature is aquaculture, where you’ll now be able to breed, raise, and harvest fish. The new map, Kinlaig, inspired by the lush landscapes of Scotland, includes areas with massive fish tanks. Here, you’ll start by raising baby fish, then transfer them to open waters to continue growing. Once matured, the fish can be harvested using boats, bringing an element of commercial fishing to the gameplay. It’s a natural, clever addition to the simulation experience.
Also featured in the DLC is the introduction of Highlands cattle and a new crop, onions. With this much diversity, it’s hard not to imagine that Clarkson’s Farm’s success has something to do with it. The idea at least.
Lastly, it wouldn’t be complete without more machinery. The Highlands Fishing DLC adds over 20 new machines for both land and water-based work from trusted brands including Monosem, Can-Am, Agri-Spread, and GT Bunning.
