Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake arrives in October on major platforms!

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is the long-awaited Remake of the first and second chapters of the famous Dragon Quest series (DQ). A remake first announced as a surprise during the Nintendo Direct on June 18, 2024. Announced alongside the HD-2D Remake of the third chapter. A double pack including the first two games in the series.

With two stories following the footsteps of the descendants of the legendary hero Erdrick in the kingdom of Alefgard. Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake: Release Date and Launch Platforms Announced

Following the teaser from late March for Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, which confirmed the release in 2025, we finally have the official news. The team at Square Enix has now confirmed the release date for the remake of the first two DQ games. The launch is scheduled for October 30, 2025.

The launch will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch, with a dedicated version also coming for Switch 2. The team also announces that pre-orders are now open for the title, soon available on all the announced platforms.

 

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake: What’s New?

DQ I & II HD-2D is presented as a remaster that completes the Erdrick trilogy. Featuring a graphic style aligned with the already seen in III HD-2D. Using Square Enix’s innovative HD-2D approach, popularized by Octopath Traveler. This package includes:

  • Double Adventure: A double pack that includes the first two chapters of Erdrick’s descendants. The first one will see the return of the Dragon Lord Zoma, and the second features princes and princesses from Erdrick’s line dealing with a new threat.
  • New Additions: A graphic overhaul with version 2.2 of HD-2D. Along with new features such as multiple enemy battles, new stories, playable areas, and various experience improvements.

And a pre-order bonus that contains the Trouble-free travel pack. Along with the The Marvellous Makeover Kit which includes a Dog Suit (DQI) and a Cat Suit (DQII) for players with a save from the third chapter.

 

In Conclusion

We still have about 5 months to wait for the launch of the first two chapters of Dragon Quest. With a double pack that finally completes the Erdrick trilogy.
