But could there really be something to it? Actually, yes—iFixit confirms that the Joy-Con sticks are still based on potentiometer technology. This is the same technology that already caused drift in the previous Switch.

Has Nintendo Really Evolved – or Is Everything the Same?
Of course, the Switch 2 is significantly more powerful than its predecessor, but what about the Joy-Con technology that already caused issues in the original Switch? According to an analysis by iFixit, the Switch 2 contains neither Hall-effect nor TMR sensors. Some manufacturers are already developing alternative magnetic replacement sticks to prevent the issue. This highlights the lack of initiative on Nintendo’s part.

Of course, if that happens, you can return the device or have it repaired for free by Nintendo. Alternatively, you might consider buying magnetic sticks from third-party manufacturers to prevent the issue.
