South of Midnight Breaks Platform Barriers With PS5 and Switch 2 Release
Previous Xbox-exclusive South Of Midnight announced to launch on Playstation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 in Spring 2025
Another Xbox-exclusive title is making the jump to other consoles. Compulsion Games announced that its highly-acclaimed game, South of Midnight, will soon be available for Playstation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 players.
South of Midnight Launching on PS5 and Switch 2
South of Midnight was one of the best games to have launched this year. It was also evident with its The Game Awards nominations, and eventual victory for Games for Impact awards. During the acceptance speech, Farah Brixi and Diane Gullemont of Compulsion Games announced that it is confirmed to land on more consoles by next year.
Gullemont shared, “From the start, we listened to stories passed down porch to porch, kitchen to kitchen to build a world that would feel as warm and as rich as the south. A world that would be filled with compassion, kindness, and courage. So we’re incredibly excited to launch this spring South of Midnight on PlayStation 5 and Switch 2.”
It was a welcomed surprise to many but actually, Compulsion games have already announced the news just before the event started. On its official X account, the studio confirms the game’s path to PS5 and Switch 2 launch in Spring 2026. The final date is not revealed yet but it does line with the game’s initial release of April 8, 2025.

South of Midnight follows an increasing number of previous Xbox-exclusives making the jump including high-profile titles like Grounded, Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remake.
Considering how other games cross over, it is also possible that the game may get a major update at the same time of the launch.
