What to Expect from the new Skate: F2P, Open World, and San Vansterdam

The ambitious return of the Electronic Arts Skate series is shaping up to be a true open-world skating experience. It takes us to the new city of San Vansterdam (San Van). Originally designed as a skater’s paradise but ruined by M-Corp, which has thankfully been kicked out. This marks the return and rebirth of the city as a mecca of fun.

It’s a true online open world on the Frostbite Engine, which will allow players to team up with their friends. With a revamped Flick-It System to show off all our tricks, complete with a Skatepedia manual. Head of Creative, Jeff Seamster, confirmed that Skate. is an evolving project that will grow continuously with the community at its core.

In Conclusion

A long-awaited release date for the return of EA’s famous skating series. It’s set for September 16, 2025, in Early Access, available on consoles too. Now we’ll just have to wait and see how the choice of the F2P model plays out.

But also the heavily criticized lack of an offline mode. A hotly debated topic after the server shutdown in 2024 of Ubisoft’s The Crew, a game that certainly inspired the new Skate. So what do you guys think about Skate.? Let us know in the comments!
