5 months after the launch of DOOM: The Dark Ages, the id Software and Bethesda team are bringing the new Update 3 for Doom’s techno-medieval chapter. Let’s find out what awaits us!

DOOM: The Dark Ages is getting a refresh with Update 3 packed with fixes, balance changes, and new features like the Ripatorium 2.0!

DOOM: The Dark Ages is the new installment in the reboot of the famous first-person shooter series from id Software. The game debuted on 15/05/2025 as a prequel chapter to the new reboot series, which started with Doom 4 (2016). It follows the famous Doom Slayer in a fight against the forces of Hell, with a chapter that has calmer gameplay but is still highly appreciated by many.

DOOM: The Dark Ages – Update 3 Now Available

About 3 months after the launch of Update 2, the id Software team is finally bringing the new Third Update to DOOM: The Dark Ages. This new Major Update is for the techno-medieval themed prequel chapter of the famous FPS series.

The update has been officially available since 18/11/2025 on all platforms. It brings lots of new stuff for Doom Slayers to try, notably the Version 2.0 of the Ripatorium, QoL changes for the Campaign and Gameplay, plus various Fixes.

 

Ripatorium 2.0: Share Your Arenas

As mentioned, the star of Update 3 is again the Ripatorium. The Endless Arena style game mode introduced in August with Update 2. And it’s getting a revamp this November with Version 2.0 which brings lots of new features, namely:

  • Extended Customization with Presets and Passcode Sharing
  • Round-Based Setup with enemy customization per round (maximum 5)
  • Added Time Limit, Wave Respawn (maximum 10)
  • Added various presets with Medium, Challenging, and Sadistic difficulty

 

New Tracks, Balance Changes, and Fixes Also Arrive

Along with the Ripatorium 2.0 updates, 5 new Tracks are also arriving, namely:

  • Theomachy
  • Bloodspill
  • Divine Retribution
  • From the Ashes
  • Wither and Writhe

The team is certainly not skimping on new features for the experience. You can finally customize the Brink of Death mode, with Normal and Hard presets for an even higher challenge. Plus 4 new keybinds for melee and the shield. Various tweaks to Campaign mission enemy encounters and general game fixes.

In Conclusion: Appreciated Additions and Fan Hopes

Small additions, with a huge overhaul and expansion dedicated to the Endless Arena style mode. Slayers will be able to share their arenas with friends or the community. Fans are hopeful for something bigger like a DLC announcement. Hopes that could be realized right at The Game Awards 2025.
