Nihon Falcom also released the Ys X -Proud NORDICS- PlayStation 5 edition in February 2026. The Japanese developer published these Q3 financial results shared by GameBiz, confirming sustained double-digit growth across all active profit metrics.


What Fueled the 121% Licensing Division Growth?

The licensing division grew by 121% due to the strong overseas performance of Trails in the Sky the 1st and back-catalog titles. Nihon Falcom recorded 1.909 billion yen in licensing sales by partnering with overseas publishers to distribute localized versions across multiple platforms.

Global audiences responded heavily to these localized releases. Publisher partners launched the English version of The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon in January 2026 across major platforms.

Western players also received localized editions of Ys X Proud NORDICS and Ys Memoire Revelations in Celceta earlier this year. Automaton Media corroborated this data, highlighting that the overseas success of the Trails franchise remains the primary catalyst for the company’s financial surge.

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Release Date Confirmed

Publisher GungHo Online Entertainment released a new gameplay trailer to finalize the launch schedule for the highly anticipated sequel. The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter will launch simultaneously worldwide on September 17, 2026.

The title will be available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. Nihon Falcom completely rebuilt the 2006 original from the ground up, outfitting the game with modern graphics and improved performance.

The sequel introduces modified Quartz systems and overhauled support mechanics. The narrative resumes immediately after the events of the first chapter, following Estelle as she directly confronts the Ouroboros organization.


Kyoto Xanadu and Full-Year Financial Forecasts

Nihon Falcom released the experimental new title KYOTO XANADU -the Blooming Phantom- in July 2026 across major platforms in Asia and Japan. The developer did not include sales data for this title in the Q3 report because the launch fell outside the strict October-to-June tracking period.

The studio maintains an unchanged financial forecast for the complete fiscal year ending September 2026. Nihon Falcom projects total sales of 3.6 billion yen and an operating profit of 2.2 billion yen.

These projections represent a 37.7% and 64.0% year-on-year increase, respectively. The Japanese studio expects the September launch of Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter to comfortably secure these final targets.
