When is the Release Date for Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter?
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter will release globally on September 17, 2026. Nihon Falcom confirmed the title will launch simultaneously across PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam.
This release acts as a direct sequel to the first chapter, picking up immediately after the previous game’s climactic events. Estelle resumes her journey through the kingdom, searching for her missing partner Joshua while navigating a shifting political landscape.
Key Liberl Characters Returning to the Roster
The political and military landscape of Liberl shifts dramatically following the recent coup attempt, bringing several high-ranking figures back into the spotlight.
Brigadier General Cassius Bright has officially resigned from the Bracer Guild to resume his military duties, watching over Estelle’s progress from afar. Meanwhile, General Morgan and the newly promoted Lt. Colonel Cid manage the Royal Army’s defenses and the strategic Leiston Fortress.
On the royal front, Queen Alicia von Auslese continues to navigate tense diplomatic relations with the Erebonian Empire and the Republic of Calvard. Her nephew, Duke Dunan, remains under house arrest at the royal villa, tended to by his guilt-ridden butler, Phillip Runall.
Upgraded Tactical Orbments and Advanced Arts
Combat capabilities have received a significant structural overhaul through the modernized Tactical Orbment system. Characters can now utilize the newest Orbment model, which expands the available Quartz slots from six to seven.
Upgrading these individual slots allows players to equip superior Quartz, which is necessary for unlocking the game’s most powerful Orbal Arts. Official documentation from Nihon Falcom highlights several new advanced Arts tied to specific elemental attributes.
These new additions include Blue Ascension (Water), Sylpharion (Wind), Abyss Fall (Time), Lost Mobius (Space), and Zodiac (Mirage). Blue Ascension is particularly notable for dealing SS-class damage and inflicting the Seal status with a 90% success rate.
How Does the New Attack Food System Work?
The new Attack Food system turns cooking failures into offensive tactical tools. If a player fails to cook a dish properly, they occasionally generate special items that can be thrown at enemies during Command Battles to deal damage.
These attack dishes act as free projectiles, consuming zero Craft Points (CP) or Energy Points (EP) upon use. Standard successful dishes continue to provide vital HP recovery, status ailment removal, and temporary stat boosts.
Furthermore, players can activate specific food buffs from the main menu during Quick Battles. If the player transitions from a Quick Battle into a turn-based Command Battle while a food effect is active, the buff will persist for up to two turns.
