- Panache Digital Games released a new trailer detailing Noa and Aaron, the dual protagonists of 1666: Amsterdam.
- Noa is a 17th-century witch hunter wielding ancient artifacts, while Aaron is a year-2000 professor trapped in a cat’s body.
- The game recently entered the debugging phase, with voice actors Victoria Diamond and Xiao Yi Hernan finalizing their roles.
Who Are the Protagonists in 1666: Amsterdam?
The protagonists of 1666: Amsterdam are Noa Brooklyn, a 17th-century apothecary apprentice with magical heritage, and Aaron, a modern-day university professor transported back to 1666 inside the body of a cat. Players control both characters to navigate historical Amsterdam and combat corrupted entities.
Executive producer Jean-François Boivin detailed these characters in the latest gameplay feature trailer. Noa belongs to an ancient lineage of women known as the Zaindaris. Her primary mission is to hunt down the Originals, individuals heavily corrupted by a primordial magic called the Nux.
To succeed, she utilizes specialized tools passed down through generations. The Heeparan is an artifact allowing her to absorb and manipulate the Nux, while the Nuxefer acts as a mystical manuscript recording her journey for future Zaindaris.
Time Travel, Magic, and Asymmetrical Mechanics
The connection between a 17th-century witch and a year-2000 academic forms the narrative core of the upcoming action-adventure from Panache Digital Games. The studio, led by creative director Patrice Désilets, designed the dual-character system to offer highly asymmetrical gameplay abilities.
Aaron’s timeline begins on the eve of Y2K. While traveling to Amsterdam with his partner to celebrate the new millennium, he becomes trapped in an ancient union ceremony. This ritual catapults him 300 years into the past and binds his soul into a feline form, directly linking his fate to Noa.
While Aaron loses his human form, his new state introduces significant exploration mechanics. As a cat, he can navigate tight spaces, scale structures inaccessible to Noa, and perceive hidden supernatural elements in the environment.

Development Progress and Voice Cast Details
Panache Digital Games recently shared comprehensive updates through their official Steam community hub, The Midnight Chronicle. Voice actress Victoria Diamond brings Noa to life, adopting a specific Mid-Atlantic accent to ground the character’s historical stoicism and relentless drive.
Actor Xiao Yi Hernan provides the voice for Aaron, drawing on his own Montreal background to inject the time-displaced professor with a blend of academic curiosity and relatable anxiety. Both actors recently returned to the recording booth to finalize narrative elements.
The studio confirmed that the game has officially entered the debugging phase. Recent press preview events in real-world Amsterdam indicate that hands-on impressions will surface shortly, keeping anticipation high as the team prepares their next feature highlighting the day and night mechanics.
