You know that heavy, satisfying thud when you land a perfect headshot with the Auto-9 in RoboCop: Rogue City? Or the dense political tension that keeps you glued to the screen in GreedFall?
That same intense, slow-burn pressure is hitting the real world right now. Nacon, the publisher behind these sleeper AA hits, is officially filing for insolvency. It’s a massive blow to the AA gaming space. We aren’t just talking about a couple of delayed patches or a pushed release date here.
The Real-World Game Over Screen
The trouble didn’t actually start with Nacon itself. The publisher got dragged down by its parent company, Bigben Interactive.
Bigben recently failed to make a massive €43 million loan repayment to its banking pool. Because Bigben holds 56.72% of Nacon’s shares, the financial dominoes fell hard and fast. Trading on Nacon’s shares is completely suspended right now. They’ve asked a French court for permission to restructure their debt just to keep the lights on.

By the Numbers: Who is Affected?
Let’s look at the raw data because the fallout here is huge. Nacon reported €167.9 million in revenue for 2024/2025, but that doesn’t shield them from Bigben’s debt.
There are 16 development studios currently sitting under the Nacon umbrella. We’re talking about heavy hitters like Cyanide, Spiders, Kylotonn, and Daedalic Entertainment. Over 1,000 employees are now waiting to see what happens next. If the court approves the restructuring, existing liabilities freeze for up to 18 months to give them breathing room.
The Nacon Connect Paradox
The timing couldn’t be weirder. Nacon is still scheduled to host its annual showcase, Nacon Connect, on March 4, 2026.
Are they still going to show off Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss and Endurance Motorsport Series while lawyers fight in court? GreedFall 2: The Dying World is also supposed to drop its full 1.0 version on March 12. Fans are understandably anxious about whether these dates will actually hold up.

Will the AA Scene Lose Its Edge?
AA games are the lifeblood of the industry. They take risks the massive AAA studios avoid, delivering weird, chunky, and deeply satisfying mechanics. Seeing a publisher with 16 studios and a massive global footprint hit the brakes like this is a tough pill to swallow.
Hopefully, this judicial reorganization saves the teams at Spiders, Cyanide, and the rest of the studios so they can keep making the games we actually want to play.
