Mighty Eyes officially cancels Wanderer 2: The Seas of Fortune and ends all future updates for the buggy Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate remaster.

The difficult reality of the VR industry may have finally caught up with Mighty Eyes. The studio behind the acclaimed time-travel adventure Wanderer has officially announced the cancellation of Wanderer 2 and the end of support and future updates for Wanderer The Fragments of Fate. For fans who have followed the series since its debut, the news marks an unfortunate turning point for one of VR’s most promising original IPs.

Mighty Eyes Halts Wanderer IP

Early in the 2020s, it seemed like VR was the future of gaming. However, while many people still have their headsets sitting on shelves or connected to their PCs, the market has remained more of a niche instead of the mainstream future everyone predicted. And the studios and developers working in this industry are definitely feeling the effects of that stagnation.

Mighty Eyes initially came into the spotlight with its highly-rated, promising VR game, Wanderer, which launched in 2022. It was a clever time-travel adventure that showed a lot of potential. Interestingly, instead of dropping a straight sequel next, they launched a remaster of that same three-year-old game in 2025, titled Wanderer The Fragments of Fate.

While the original Wanderer was well received across the board, Fragments of Fate divided the fans. Although it was meant to be graphically superior and a definitive version, many players actually preferred the original 2022 launch. Looking back, this felt like the point where their downfall appeared on the horizon but was still preventable.

Unfortunately, the 2025 version was terribly buggy especially when it came to progression. It did not matter if you were playing the PSVR2 version or the PCVR version, players ran into game-breaking issues.

Some of the fans who jumped on this reimagined game were left disappointed since there was never a substantial update or fix released to resolve these problems. To add insult to injury, instead of allotting resources to fix the broken game people just bought, Mighty Eyes started work on Wanderer 2.

Now we are here with Mighty Eyes officially announcing on Discord the cancellation of that planned sequel, Wanderer 2: The Seas of Fortune, alongside the end of support for Wanderer The Fragments of Fate. The studio shared that while the original Wanderer did well on consoles, its mobile VR release did not perform, and they were banking on that.

As of now, Mighty Eyes is still figuring out what to do next. It is truly a shame because Wanderer was such a good game. Granted that the VR industry is volatile, with many people echoing the sentiment that the VR space is dying but it still has a dedicated community willing to support good projects.
