The FromSoftware team returns with the brand-new trailer for Shadow of the Erdtree, the DLC/Expansion of the acclaimed Elden Ring. A soulslike born from the collaboration of the genre’s founder, FromSoftware, with the famous writer and screenwriter George R. R. Martin. A trailer released to show some glimpses of the DLC story, but also to announce the imminent arrival of the highly anticipated Elden Ring DLC.
The new trailer for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree was released on May 21, 2024, with many players watching the trailer right after its launch. The trailer talks about a ruthless war waged by Messmer the Impaler, likely the central figure of Shadow of the Erdtree. Someone capable of involving even Miquella himself, brother of Milenia and an Empyrean. Sometime after the bloody conflict, Miquella decides to abandon everything he believed in, his golden vestiges, his strength, and his faith. But, time later, the Tarnished are ready to follow his footsteps and uncover the truth of his decision.
In short, a brief but intense trailer, so much so that it reached almost 3 million views in less than 24 hours, with the announcement trailer on 21st February 2024 having accumulated nearly 10 million views. But not only that, with the trailer’s narration and especially the images, many are already speculating about the involvement of Messmer, Miquella, and especially Queen Marika (briefly shown from behind) as well as Malenia. With the latter probably at the center of Miquella’s decision to abandon everything to try to help her sister fight the Scarlet Rot she is afflicted with.
With the new story trailer, fortunately, there are no changes to the release date, which remains solidly set for 21st June 2024, celebrating just a month’s wait from the release with this brand-new trailer. Bandai reminds us of the Shadow of the Erdtree edition, which will include both the base game and the expansion in one bundle, with the DLC sold separately requiring the base game. And finally, the pre-order bonus that gifts the Gesture: Ring of Miquella to those who pre-order Shadow of the Erdtree.
