Blizzard just pulled back the curtain on Diablo IV new 12th Seaason, and it is a literal bloodbath. Starting March 11, the Season of Slaughter is taking “Fresh Meat” to a whole new level by letting you actually step into the boots of the franchise’s most terrifying boss.

To trigger this transformation, you’ll head to Gea Kul to start the “A Taste of Power” quest. You can also hunt down Meaty Offerings to use at Shrines of Slaughter during Helltides. It turns the game into a race for supremacy where the top killer becomes the literal boss of the zone.


The Killstreak System: Speed Equals Power

Blizzard is leaning hard into the “Action” part of Action RPG. The new Killstreak system rewards you for never letting off the gas. There are five tiers of carnage to hit: Killstreak, Carnage, Devastation, Bloodbath, and finally, Massacre.

Higher tiers mean more XP and seasonal reputation. But more importantly, they power up the new Bloodied Items. These are a special quality tier that can drop as Ancestral simultaneously. Their stats actually scale based on your current Killstreak tier—the faster you kill, the harder you hit.

The Eternal Hunter: Bloodied Sigils

If you missed the feeling of being hunted, Bloodied Sigils are here to ruin your day in the best way possible. Using these on Nightmare Dungeons or Infernal Hordes triggers the Relentless Butcher affix.

This version of the Butcher never stops. If you manage to kill him, he just respawns and keeps coming. It’s a brutal challenge that rewards you with guaranteed Bloodied Items. For the real masochists, Bloodsoaked Sigils offer a challenge equivalent to Pit Tier 100.


Paladin Free Trial and the DOOM Collab

If you haven’t bought the Lord of Hatred expansion yet, Blizzard is giving you a week-long test drive of the Paladin. From March 11 to March 18, you can take the holy warrior up to Level 25 for free. Any progress you make carries over if you decide to pay the premium retail price later.

We’re also getting a massive crossover with DOOM: The Dark Ages. You can earn the Shield Saw skin and the Head of the Cyberdemon trophy just by playing. If you want to go full Slayer, the shop will feature cross-class armor and a Mecha Dragon mount skin.
