Dead by Daylight: Why You Must Buy the Michael Myers Chapter Before 2026

Developer Behaviour Interactive has announced that Michael Myers (The Shape), Laurie Strode, and all Halloween content will leave its asymmetrical horror, Dead by Daylight, on January 19, 2026.

Dead by Daylight: Why You Must Buy the Michael Myers Chapter Before 2026

The iconic Michael Myers and Laurie Strode are about to exit The Fog forever. Behaviour Interactive’s license for The Halloween Chapter in Dead by Daylight is expiring, and with it, one of the game’s most beloved maps and characters.

While Michael, Laurie, and Haddonfield will leave DbD, those who already own them can still access The Shape, Laurie, and their cosmetics. If you want to own this piece of horror history, you need to act fast.

Key Changes for Non-Owners of The Halloween Chapter

Unfortunately, “The Halloween Chapter” is leaving Dead by Daylight, bringing an end to an era that started in October 2016, as it came to DbD as “the first legendary horror film to be added to the game as a license.”

  • The Date: All content will be officially removed on January 19th, 2026, at 11 AM ET. This is a hard deadline.
  • What is Leaving: Specifically, the licensed characters Michael Myers (The Shape) and Laurie Strode, along with the beloved Haddonfield Map, are being retired from the game.

Rest assured, if you already own Michael Myers, Laurie Strode, or any of their associated cosmetics, you will keep them permanently.

Key Changes for Non-Owners of The Halloween Chapter

For anyone who doesn’t purchase the characters before the deadline, the most significant change will be the complete conversion of their unique Perks.

The original Perks are being renamed and converted into General Perks, meaning they will be accessible to everyone through the Bloodweb under new names.

The Shape’s Perk Name Changes:

  • Save The Best For Last becomes Keep Them Waiting
  • Play With Your Food becomes See How They Run
  • Dying Light becomes Cull The Weak

Laurie Strode’s Perk Name Changes:

  • Sole Survivor becomes Down To The Last
  • Object of Obsession becomes Bound by Obsession
  • Decisive Strike becomes Will To Live

Perhaps the most tragic loss for the community is the Haddonfield Map, which is being entirely removed from the map rotation, along with the Strode Realty Key.

Last Chance: Michael Myers and Laurie Strode 50% Off Sale

Behaviour Interactive is giving players one final, massive incentive to grab this content before it’s gone forever. There is a limited-time “Last Chance 50% off sale” on The Halloween Chapter characters and all their associated cosmetics.

This is the absolute final opportunity to own the original characters and, crucially, to keep the original Perk names and descriptions for the sake of collecting. Once they are gone, your only recourse is to get the renamed, generic versions via the Bloodweb.

Verdict: Must You Buy Before It’s Gone?

In my opinion, the answer is a resounding yes. If you are a collector, a fan of the Halloween franchise, or simply value having the original character models and the classic Perk names, you must purchase it before January 19th. It’s the only guaranteed way to retain Michael Myers and Laurie Strode as playable characters.
