Critical Role is developing its first video with the help of indie developer AdHoc Studio, the team behind superhero workplace comedy Dispatch.
Critical Role, the team of professional voice actors known for its massively popular web series in which they play Dungeons & Dragons, is making its first video game.
Since its debut in 2015, Critical Role has garnered a huge following of fans, evolving through hundreds of episodes over multiple campaigns and expanding into an Amazon Prime animated series, live shows, and now video games.
What Do We Know About the Game So Far?
Particular details of the upcoming Critical Role game are still unknown. However, we know it is being developed by AdHoc Studio, which Critical Role is already collaborating with for the upcoming Dispatch, due to launch on PC and consoles in 2025.
Speaking about working with AdHoc, Critical Role’s Travis Willingham said they knew “this was a team we wanted to collaborate with. Critical Role is always looking to build with people who are innovating around new wants to deliver story, character, and worldbuilding, and AdHoc fits that perfectly.”
Willingham also revealed it will be an all-new adventure and that the team is “tossing around ideas.” With plenty to choose from across three campaigns, Willingham told Variety “it’s just a matter of picking the right time and place.”
