Reviews

Given the garbage most fans have had to go through in recent years, including one luke-warm Aliens vs Predator movie, and the lack of any kind of game attention since Concrete Jungle, AvP is a welcome addition to the series. Yes, its not an A-List game by any stretch of the imagination, but it is still extremely fun for what it is.

Gamefocus

You won't be buying AvP for its single-player though, and if you are you may find yourself sorely disappointed. Rebellion has built AvP around its multiplayer, which is both well-constructed and surprisingly well-balanced.

Aliens vs. Predator could have been a truly great game. It’s there, you can almost feel it, but it’s constantly ripped away from you because of some poor design decisions and a general lack of quality that keeps the game from having that triple-A feeling.

• Docks: Horror comes from the deep at Weyland-Yutani’s abandoned dockyard.
• Outpost: Reclaimed by BG-386’s voracious jungle plant life, this is the perfect hunting ground for all manner of wildlife.

Two new survivor maps

• Hive: Deep in the heart of Freya’s Prospect lies the Xenomorph Hive. Beware all who enter here.

New maps for multiplayer mode

• Crashsite: an outdoors map placing players in a Jungle swamp – dominated by a crashed drop ship. Radiating away from the swamp is a waterfall overlooking an expansive vista, which is part of a large “ring” of playable area that surrounds the central swamp, with connecting spokes to aid player movement through the map.
• Furious: an arena style map placing players in a central cylinder shaped area dominated by a huge active furnace in the middle.

New maps for survivor mode only

• Tempest: an outdoor map which places players in the BG-386 Colony area on a dark and stormy night.
• Monument: an outdoor map set on BG-386 in a previously unseen Monument area to the deceased Predator Lord.
