Phantom Brigade is an excellent game. It is a turn-based tactical game, with real-time elements as well (rather original, isn't it?) You lead a team of mechas who must defeat the invader, and retake strategic points in a vast territory. Nothing spectacular in the scenario. A full arsenal of weapons awaits you, and the mechs are customisable to your liking, you can specialise them as you wish. The tactical aspect includes base management and large-scale decisions on the main map, and the turn-based gameplay includes countermeasures and anticipation, which makes the battles more dynamic, more interesting, because you can react according to the opponent, your predictions. So I would say that it breaks the linearity of the game. Add to that the fact that the environment is destructible, that there is a lot of content, that the game has implemented mods, that there is a storyline that isn't very gripping but you can feel the effort... frankly, for this price, it's a must-have, don't hesitate too long.

Turn-based mech combat where you put your preferred collection of weapons and armor on generic frames, attacking the opponent either from a distance, or with melee weapons. The actual combat is great, but the GUI is weird and unintuitive. The campaign is also not great with a barebones plot and a poor AI, where once you have some good builds, you'll slice to the campaign like through butter.

Phantom Brigade is a turn-based tactical RPG game, in which players take on the role of a commander leading a squad of mechs in a post-apocalyptic world. The game's combat is turn-based and focuses heavily on strategic planning and positioning. Players must carefully move their mechs around the battlefield, using cover and terrain to their advantage, while also considering the range and capabilities of their weapons. One unique feature of Phantom Brigade is the game's use of real-time physics simulations. The mechs and the environment they interact with are all subject to the laws of physics, meaning that a well-placed attack can knock over buildings or cause debris to fly across the battlefield, potentially damaging both enemies and allies. Players can customize their mechs with a variety of weapons, armor, and other upgrades, and must manage their resources carefully as they engage in battles against enemy forces. The game also features a branching narrative with multiple possible endings, depending on the player's choices throughout the game. Overall, Phantom Brigade offers a unique and challenging tactical RPG experience with a focus on strategic planning and physics-based combat.

Phantom Brigade is an ambitious project by the indie developer Brace Yourself Games, and after over 7 years in development along with 2 years of early access period has finally being released. Phantom Brigade is a unique mix of turn based strategy game and real time one, the easiest way to describe it is a mixture of games like X-COM with real times elements and mechs! The story is pretty simple, we'll have drive an ex-mining giant vehicle now converted as our mobile base of operation in which we'll store our mechs, in order to a desperate attempt at driving out the invaders and free our homeland throughout the campaign. The game boast not only mod support but a huge amount of customizations for our mechs, ranging from visuals to include weapons and equipment to strengthen them as we'll often be outnumbered. Gameplay is quite interesting, as when driving our mobile base of operation for the next location we'll be able to zoom in to see the randomly generated landscape and customize and fine tunes our mechs before the battle. In the battle we'll be able to operate them by turn but also being able to slightly see in the "future" by seeing some of the actions the enemies will take, always remembering that we're having less amount of units than the enemies and keeping in consideration of the battlefield which are often seen with plenty of highly destructible city buildings. The action sequences are a treat to see, and at times it those sequences has a strong miniature/scale combat scenario vibe, a thing that add to its charm. A pretty interesting title that need a bit more polish but that manages to entertain both the mechs enthusiast and turn based strategy fans.

A turn-based strategy game that plays in real time. You play with a squad of mechs trying to retake their homeland in scenarios with destructible environments. Phantom Brigade let's you get better weapons and equipment from defeating enemies and the gameplay looks very interesting, you plan the actions with the game paused like other turn-based games and then hit a button to watch the combat unfold.
