About this game

Fire Tonight is a short point-and-click puzzle and adventure game developed by Reptoid Games, it was inspired by an information society song of the same name. You play as an odd couple Maya and Devin living in what appears to be an approximation of the 1990s before the advent of affordable phones and the internet. Enjoy a thoughtful and lighthearted story about their rocky relationship and how they got here, of how far they will go believing in each other when the whole world tries to keep them apart.

• Help Maya on her journey across the city by running, car, train, rooftops, and roller-skating while avoiding the police barricades, traffic, and the massive fire that’s engulfing the city.
• Devin waits in his small apartment anxiously waiting, as he reminisces the memories and mementos they made in this small apartment.
• Will our two protagonists be able to find each other in the chaos? while the whole city itself is being engulfed in flames.

No better words can sum up Fire Tonight than ‘short and sweet’. It’s over before you know it, but for its low asking price, it packs in just the right amount of puzzles, nostalgia, and a heartening narrative. Add to that a rocking soundtrack and a wonderful art style, and you’ve got a great little package.

It may be short, and it may not quite deliver with its puzzles, but Fire Tonight is a rather lovely ode to the ’90s that pulls off a lyrically inspired narrative with panache. Maya and Devin’s retro-styled love story is something we’d like to see more of in the future, and if you’re looking for a game you can tick off the list in an evening, and if you’ve got affection for the time era it depicts, you’d do well to spend your time in their world for a bit.
