About this game

Chippy is a Bullet Hell Shoot 'em Up game developed by Facepunch Studios, it’s a pixel-based SHMUP game primarily centered around fighting giant bosses with destructible body parts. Cleverly dodge bullets and collect power-ups as you chip away at the boss’s armor and appendages, disable their various weaponry or directly open up their core and destroy them in one fell swoop.

   
  • There are in total 14 bosses/levels in the game each of them has multiple phases starting out easy and progressively gets harder.
  • Disabling one of the bosses’ weapons gives a powerup you have the option of picking an upgrade to your damage output or upgrading your defensive capabilities.
  • The scoring system in Chippy is simple fastest time wins perfect for sped runners, you can see the online leaderboard before you start a level.
  • Full steam workshop integration: you are able to download mods from the workshop or make one yourself.

Reviews

On paper, this is a twin-stick shooter and literally nothing more. This is just boss fight after boss fight. Rinse and repeat. But you get a sense that Chippy is fully aware of what it wants to be and sticks to its guns (pun intended) and as such delivers quite a tight and enjoyable experience. You’ll need to rely on your instincts, have eyes everywhere, and quite possibly a bit of luck to get through the challenges, but you’ll have a fun time doing so, over and over again.
