While many Avatar fans are looking forward to the previously announced AAA RPG based on the Avatar franchise, Gameplay Group International is giving us one more. Avatar Legends The Fighting Game was officially announced at New York Comic Con, targeted to release in the summer of 2026.

During a reunion panel for Avatar: The Last Airbender at New York Comic Con 2025, another video game based on the franchise was revealed. Avatar Legends The Fighting Game was officially announced, bringing Aang, Korra, and more to the fighting game world in the summer of 2026.

Alongside an announcement trailer, Gameplay Group International which is developing the game, also confirmed that upon launch, 12 playable characters will be available. This includes Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, Azula, Toph, and Korra, with more to be revealed in the coming months. This roster will also expand over time and will be dropped on a seasonal basis post-launch.

The game will feature a single-player campaign with an original story, and a 1v1 PvP fighting mode with rollback netcode and cross-play. The devs also shared that the game features a Flow System that focuses on the players’ movements. This makes sense since the benders, well bend elements with their movement. Support characters will also be present including Aang’s Appa and Korra’s Naga that will enable special moves.

Not much more was revealed but we can expect some updates and more trailers in the following months.

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is a 2D hand-drawn fighter inspired by the elemental powers from the Avatar series. It’s made for both new and experienced players, combining classic fighting game mechanics with smooth movement, responsive controls, and strong online play, all while staying true to the show’s expressive art style. It is coming to PC via Steam, Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2.
