EVO 2018 Schedule Released

Evo 2018 has announced its tournament schedule. The tournament starts August 3rd and will run until August 5th. Fans will be able to watch the tournament via Twitch. Games included on the roster are: Street Fighter 5, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Tekken 7, Balzblue Cross Tag Battle, Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2, and Injustice 2. The finals is set to happen Sunday, August 5th with Street Fighter 5 headlining the show.


La Mulana 2 Surprisingly Released

La Mulana 2 is finally officially launched after over 4 years of Kickstarter campaign. The game is the sequel to La Mulana, a hit release with over 500,000 copies sold. La Mulana 2 is available on PC via Steam, or GOG.com. The game is a Metroidvania-like side-scrolling game which lets players explore ruins as they solve puzzles along the way. The game also features a pixel art style world.


Digimon to Release a Survival-Sim RPG in 2019

Digimon will be getting a survival role-playing game in celebration of the anime’s 20th anniversary. Bandai Namco revealed the game, aptly called Digimon Survive, at a livestream recently, along with the game’s first trailer. The trailer doesn’t show much in terms of details and gameplay, but you can see a few hints of visual novel and survival-RPG mechanics. The game will follow a new cast of teenagers who get lost during a camping trip. Survive is set to launch in 2019 for PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Switch.


Destiny 2 Showcases Solstice of Heroes Event

Bungie and Activision have released a trailer which showcases Destiny 2’s new event dubbed Solstice of Heroes. The event runs July 31st until August 28th, and the story commemorates the loss of the City to the Red Legion. The event’s focal point is a Statue of Heroes which is erected at the center of the Tower. Players will have to complete objectives such as Redux missions, also known as slightly altered story missions. Meanwhile, Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion is set to release on PC and consoles on September 4th.


EA Officially Launches Origin Access Premier

EA’s Origin Access Premier subscription service has officially launched. In case you didn’t know, the service gives players full access to the latest EA games anytime they want. To start with, players will get access to previously released EA titles such as TheSims 4 (including content from its Digital Deluxe edition along with Dine Out and Kids Room stuff), Star Wars Battlefront 2, FIFA 18, A Way Out, and Unravel 2. Subscribers will also get to play upcoming titles like Battlefield 5, Anthem, and FIFA 19 before anyone else.


Rocket League Key Trading Coming to Xbox One

Rocket League’s new Zephyr update is set to bring key trading to the game on Xbox One. Key trading lets players trade cosmetic items for Keys which can unlock loot boxes or crates. The Zephyr update has already rolled out, however, Key Trading will only be launching within the next few days. This is good news for Xbox One players since Key Trading has been available on other platforms aside from the Xbox One version due to Microsoft’s policies that prevent the feature to be added.

Platformer Secretly Mines Cryptocurrency, Removed From Steam

An indie platformer has been removed from Steam for secretly mining cryptocurrency. The game is called Abstractism, and it lets players take on the role of a black or white square that jumps around black and white platforms. It looks quite innocent being like that, until one YouTuber named SidAlpha decided to investigate a report where the developers are disguising one of its in-game items are a rarer drop. Long story short, Valve has agreed to remove the game from Steam after investigation proves it guilty.


Doom Eternal Gameplay Reveal Announced

The very first gameplay footage of the much awaited Doom sequel called Doom Eternal will be shown during the second day of Quakecon which will be on August 10. Doom Eternal has been announced during Bethesda’s E3 conference back in June. The previous Doom game trailer had been shown exclusively for QuakeCon attendees in 2014. But with the announcement made, we think that it is safe to say that the Doom Eternal footage will be made available for everybody and not just the attendees.


Crash Bandicoot Remains at Top of Sales Charts for Fifth Week

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy continues to dominate the retail charts in the UK. It has now been sitting pretty at the number 1 spot for the 5th consecutive week. It’s followed by Lego The Incredibles, The Crew 2, God of War, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to round up the top 5. No Man’s Sky has re-entered the retail charts at number 12 with the release of the Xbox One version. It’s also interesting to see that PS4-exclusive God of War still sits at number 1 for games ranked per platform, followed by the Switch’s Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.


Realm Royale Deathmatch Training Grounds Disabled

Hi-Rez Studio made the announcement via Steam that Realm Royale’s Deathmatch Training Grounds is being disabled. The studio said that the mode was meant to be active for just a short period of time in order to gain insight into the features of the game that players would enjoy. The mode was also able to help developers with the game’s pace, class balance, and gunplay. Fret not though as the studio is currently internally testing and experimenting on new game modes that they can add into the game.


Jump Force Trailer Features Characters From Bleach

Bandai Namco has been hyping up manga and anime fans all over the world with sneak peeks of their upcoming mix-up brawler, Jump Force. This time, a new trailer has been released that showcases characters from the hit series, Bleach. The trailer shows series protagonist, Ichigo Kurosaki, along with the noble Shinigami, Rukia kuchiki, and the captain of the Gotei 13, Sosuke Aizen. The characters are a sweet addition as Bleach doesn’t get much video game representation in the west.


New Teaser for World of Warcraft Battle for Azeroth Revealed

A new animated teaser had been released by Blizzard for World of Warcraft’s Battle For Azeroth. It features Sylvanas Windrunner the Warchief of the Horde. You can get to see Sylvana’s life story and her un-death by the hands of Arthas Menethil. With what happened to her, you will get to understand her war with life bringing death. The animated teaser also shows Sylvanas giving the command to burn the Teldrassil which is also known as the “world tree” home of the night elves.


No Man’s Sky Player Crafts Sean Murray’s Face on a Planet

With No Man’s Sky’s recent release of its major update called NEXT, a lot of players came flocking. One fan, Roland Oberheim was so pleased that he made a tribute to the game’s designer Sean Murray by crafting the designer’s face on the surface of a planet. This is made out of tiles that measures thirty-seven by fifty squares. It is so large that it can be seen from the atmosphere by ships that happen to pass by. Players can get to see the monument with special coordinates for the fast-travel glyph system.


This is the Police 2 Out Sooner Than Expected

The sequel to the police management RPG, This Is The Police, was launched sooner than the announced launch date. This Is The Police 2 is out now, and it’s available for PC. The previous game had been more of story and management-focused and this time with the sequel the horizons will be expanded. You will be involved in the intricate detective work while not exactly working with the cream of the crop. Some officers are kind of like the criminals arrested which are belligerent, drunk and surly.


GTA Online After Hours Update Gets Weekly Update

It is week two for the After Hours content for GTA Online and it brings us the Blimp, Enus Stafford, and Tale of Us. And available right now is the Italian DJ duo Tale of Us for booking as resident DJs. They will be debuting their new exclusive music from their upcoming album Afterlight which will come to the Los Santos Underground Radio soon. Next week the available resident DJ is Dixon, arriving on August 7th. This week players are also able to earn Guest Rewards, discounts, buy new cars and more.


Darksiders 3 Devs Show Off Game’s Environmental Puzzles

Darksiders 3 gets a brand new gameplay video and it shows off the game’s environmental puzzles. Design director John Pearl and lead level designer Richard Vorodi walks viewers through a part of the game which will show off the environmental puzzles players will encounter. Of course, there will be a few spoilers here and there, so those who are worried about that you have been warned. This furious action-adventure game by Gunfire Games / is said to launch on November 27, 2018.


Frozen Synapse 2 Releases This August

Frozen Synapse 2, a turn-based tactical squad shooter should be arriving any time now this August. The first game came out seven years ago and the developers Mode 7 Games is still focused on squad-based tactical action where all units and sides play out their turns simultaneously. However, this time around it is built into an overarching strategic level where players must protect the whole procedurally generated city and appeasing the many factions that it contains.


Battlerite Kicks Off Third Season

It is season three of Battlerite and new updates are coming along with it. The patch 1.7 for Battlerite brings about some sweeping changes and the most notable of all is that the round times have been shortened from two minutes to ninety seconds making it more fun and action-packed at the get-go. Also, the ranked 2 versus 2 queues is no more, pushing people to the 3 versus 3 mode. Guided Missile, Jetpack Game Mode in New Fortnite Update

Epic Games released a new update for Fortnite and it is available for all its platforms — PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and iOS. Update 5.10 brings a limited time mode called Fly Explosives which will bring out the jetpacks as well as the dearly missed Guided Missile weapon. Since the Guided Missile has been pulled out before, it has been tweaked and turned down a bit, in the initial release the weapon was insanely strong. More of the patch notes in the game’s site.


League of Legends to Add Blitz Game Mode

Riot Games previously announced that they will be launching brand new experimental game modes. The first of the modes to be launched is called Nexus Blitz which is said to come with the patch 8.16. This mode will be in alpha for about four weeks then an open test will be available for everyone. This mode will run for around fifteen minutes on a compact map that will have both jungles and laners. There will also be some ‘events’ that will happen every few minutes which will affect the whole map.


Medieval MMO Conqueror’s Blade Heads to Early Access

Tactical medieval warfare Conqueror’s Blade from developer Booming Games is heading into Early Access. The MMO lets players manage their own kingdom – keeping them safe from enemies, and making it prosperous. Battles in the game could be huge, with as large as 1000 units per side battling it out in its huge world. The game could be described as a combination of Crusader Kings, Total War, and a little bit of For Honor. Its Early Access date is undisclosed at this time, but a closed beta, which you can sign up for in the game’s website, is available.


The Sinking City Gameplay Highlighted in New Trailer

A brand-new trailer for the upcoming Lovecraftian-inspired horror-investigation game The Sinking City has been revealed. The trailer focuses on the game’s main character, and highlights some gameplay. The game is set in the year 1920 in Massachusetts, and follows the main character Charles W. Reed. Much of the gameplay revolves around exploring the flooded city of Oakmont, as well as investigating the horrors surrounding the city. The game is planned for a March 2019 release for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
