The Survios team has finally broken their silence after almost 2 years. A silence interrupted by the announcement on 20 April 2024 of a release window for the highly anticipated Alien: Rogue Incursion, a new chapter in the beloved Alien series that many have been eagerly awaiting. Considering we’ve already hit the 10-year mark since the release of the last game, the fantastic and acclaimed Alien Isolation. Complete with a teaser, Survios is ready to bring this new Alien-branded experience soon, but with some particularities.
Initially announced during Comic-Con 2022, Survios announced a collaboration with 20th Century Games to bring a new game in the Alien series. Then it was announced with a teaser released on 20 April 2024, falling on the Alien Day to celebrate the franchise. Survios is a renowned VR gaming development studio very active in the sector, which has brought a good number of VR games to various platforms. Among the studio’s most renowned titles are Creed: Rise to Glory, Walking Dead Onslaught, and Westworld Awakening.
We still lack many details about this new Alien-branded game, but we know from their interview with Chief Producer TQ Jefferson that Alien: Rogue Incursion will be the most ambitious game the team has ever brought forth. Bringing the experience of nearly 45 years of the Alien series with a new frantic yet exploratory story, complete with the inevitable Xenomorphs. A truly terrifying action horror experience, realized on the powerful Unreal Engine 5 graphics engine.
Survios has revealed that the release date for Alien: Rogue Incursion is slated for the Holiday season of 2024, and the game will be exclusive to VR systems as per the team’s practice. Not only will the game arrive on the powerful PSVR 2, but also on Steam and Meta Quest 3, with no mention of the Quest 2 for now.
The first game to bring an officially branded Alien experience to VR, but certainly not the true first experience. In fact, for several years now, there has been a mod for the beloved Alien Isolation that makes the game compatible for VR systems on PC. With the mod to install and some small adjustments to apply, especially on Windows 11, you’ll get a very solid VR tense experience despite Alien Isolation being 10 years old!
