The previously leaked and rumored Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition has now officially launched. In partnership with Discord, Nitro members get access to this new basic tier which will offer a library of 50+ games and limited cloud gaming.
Discord Nitro Adds Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition to its Perks
A few weeks ago, both Xbox Game Pass and Discord Nitro teased of a new partnership which brings a basic Game Pass tier for Nitro subscribers. And today, that has become official.
In an announcement on Xbox Wire, Microsoft shared that Discord have officially pushed an update on Discord Nitro which brings Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition to its members. This new tier is not available outside Nitro and offers a similar experience to the standalone Essential tier. Both offer a library of more than 50 games, although there is no confirmation if these libraries are identical.
As of writing, the full list of games included in the Started Edition has not been fully revealed but confirmed titles include:
- Grounded
- Stardew Valley
- Hades
- DayZ
- Cities Skylines
- Dishonored 2
- Fallout 4
- Gears of War 5
- Doom Eternal
Dealabs previously leaked a list of 58 titles to be included at launch. If true, the remaining titles could be added during the day.
Like Essential, the library is said to be built over time. But unlike it, Starter Edition only offers 10 hours of cloud gaming per month. It sounds short but considering this comes at no additional cost for Nitro members, that’s still a pretty sweet deal.
To access Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition on Discord, it’s listed under the Rewards or Benefits menu in the Nitro tab.
Other perks included in the Discord Nitro update
Apart from the new Game Pass access, Discord Nitro members will also get these following perks which will be rolled later this month:
- 250 Discord Orbs each month
- 1.2x extra Orbs when completing Quests
- Automatically applied Discord Shop discounts
The discounts are particularly great for members especially with increasing prices of practically everything these days. Included in this perk are Logitech G products which have up to 30% discount, KontrolFreek has 20%, and SteelSeries has 15%. Note though that in order to see these discounts, members must use the desktop app.
Xbox Game Pass Started Edition Eligibility
The update was done gradually but since it’s been 12 hours since the initial rollout, if you still don’t see Game Pass on your Discord, you may not be eligible for this perk. Basically, if you only have a Nitro Basic subscription, you won’t have access.
However even with Nitro subscription, if you’re not part of the supported region, you’re also not eligible. Supported regions include Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States.
