Ubisoft has delayed multiple games, believed to be from its most established IPs, to 2026 and 2027 following the successful delayed launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The company has not named what games are delayed, but it’s believed Ghost Recon, Assassin’s Creed, and Far Cry are among the franchises affected.

Ubisoft has confirmed during its recent end-of-year financial earnings report that several titles have been pushed back to 2026 and 2027 so it can focus on quality rather than quantity.
In its financial earnings report, Ubisoft says it has made the decision to delay some of its “biggest productions” after reviewing its “pipeline.” Pointing to the recent launch and success of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the developer and publisher says it is creating the “best conditions for success.”

Which Games Are Affected?
In the earnings report, Ubisoft does not reveal which games are delayed, but reported by Eurogamer, CEO Yves Guillemot hinted that the games delayed belong to the Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, The Division, and Far Cry franchises.
Ubisoft has several games in development, including a Splinter Cell remake, a Ghost Recon sequel, two Assassin’s Creed games, The Division 3, and the next Far Cry entry.
Why Ubisoft Is Delaying Its Releases
Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on March 20, 2025, after two delays in November 2024 and January 2025. Referring to Shadows’ success and fan reaction, Ubisoft announced the delays were “to provide additional development time” to improve the chance for success.
Shadows surpassed 3 million players in its first three days and earned the second-highest day one sales in Assassin’s Creed history behind Valhalla, which launched during lockdown. Ubisoft has also been laying off staff, closing studios, and cancelling games as it “reorganizes” following a difficult financial period. Yves Guillemot revealed in this latest report that the company will announce its new organization by the end of 2025.
What’s Next
Ubisoft has announced the creation of a new subsidiary in collaboration with Tencent, focusing on “quality narrative-driven solo experiences” while also expanding its live service offerings.
Ubisoft is looking to refocus following years of criticism and failures, and the decision to push back some of its biggest upcoming games indicates that the company wants to deliver high-quality experiences to fans. Unfortunately, we all have to wait to see what this newly determined Ubisoft has in store for us.
Conclusion
Ubisoft has delayed several games until 2026 and 2027, with major IPs like Far Cry, Ghost Recon, Assassin’s Creed, and Rainbow Six affected. Do you think Ubisoft and other companies should focus on quality over quantity? Share your thoughts in the comments.
