Crystal Dynamics just dropped a major casting bombshell for Tomb Raider Catalyst, and it didn’t come from a press release. Fans with sharp hearing cracked the code early.
Resident Evil Veteran Joins Catalyst
The Tomb Raider community has proven once again that nothing slips past them. After analyzing the recent reveal trailer, fans speculated that the mysterious voice taunting Lara belonged to a familiar industry veteran.
They were right. Eva La Dare, best known for her role as Sheva Alomar in Resident Evil 5, confirmed the theories on X (formerly Twitter). Responding to a fan who asked if she was the voice in the trailer, La Dare replied, “Your ears are GOOD!”
While she kept specific plot points under wraps, she expressed enthusiasm about joining the project. “Can’t say more yet, but I’m so excited to be part of this legendary franchise,” she stated. Early reports suggest she plays a rival or primary antagonist to Lara.
Damn @Pvimt0!😲 Your ears are GOOD! Can’t say more yet, but I’m so excited to be part of this legendary franchise.✨ https://t.co/59W7L650ZE

A New Voice for Lara Croft
Catalyst marks a significant shift for the series’ audio landscape. Camilla Luddington, who defined the “Survivor Trilogy” era, has officially stepped down after a decade in the role.
Taking the mantle is Alix Wilton Regan. She will portray a more seasoned, confident Lara Croft. The story picks up after the events of Tomb Raider Underworld, sending players to Northern India following a mythical cataclysm.
This transition signals Crystal Dynamics’ intent to bridge the gap between the gritty reboot timeline and the acrobatic confidence of the original PlayStation era.

Two Tomb Raider Games Planned
The schedule for Tomb Raider fans is packed. While Catalyst is targeting a 2027 release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam, there is action coming sooner.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a remake of the very first game, is slated for later this year (2026). It promises to send players back to the classic locations that started it all, rebuilt for modern hardware.
If you haven’t played the Survivor Trilogy yet, now is the perfect time to catch up. You can often find massive discounts on the complete collection, offering dozens of hours of gameplay while you wait for the new titles.
Verdict: Is the New Tomb Raider Direction Good?
Crystal Dynamics is making bold moves by mixing veteran voice talent with a fresh direction for Lara. Bringing in Eva La Dare adds serious weight to the cast, and the dual-release strategy of a remake followed by a sequel covers all bases.
The “Unified Timeline” they promised seems to finally be taking shape.
