Nintendo officially announces Splatoon Raiders for the Switch 2. The game is the franchise’s first spin-off title and will have players take on the role of a mechanic as they embark on an unforgettable adventure across the Spirhalite Islands.
Splatoon Raiders, a new spin-off game from the Splatoon series, has been officially unveiled by Nintendo for the recently released Switch 2 console.
Alongside the new game announcement, Nintendo also revealed a new update for Splatoon 3, which will add dozens more weapons and enhance the multiplayer experience with skill-based matchmaking.
What Is Splatoon Raiders?
Despite an initial trailer, we know very little about Splatoon Raiders other than it’s a spin-off title from the Splatoon series. Players are a mechanic who embarks on an epic adventure alongside the three members of Deep Cut, a fictional band from previous games.
The short trailer suggests an action-packed journey through the Spirhalite Islands where danger lurks around every corner. While Raiders is only announced for the Switch 2, there is a slight hint at the game launching on other platforms at the end as the voice over says “there is more research underway.”
Splatoon 3 Update
Although Nintendo has officially ended support for Splatoon 3, the company has surprisingly revealed update 10.0.0. The new update will add 30 new weapon kits and Urchin Underpass, a map from the original Splatoon on the Wii U, to the game.
Nintendo is also adding new Freshness caps, badges, and the all-new Series Weapon Power stat. The latter will track a player’s win/loss ratio with a particular weapon and look to balance teams in multiplayer accordingly. The 10.0.0 patch will launch for Switch and Switch 2 on June 12, 2025.
