Millions Join Skate’s Free-to-Play Frenzy
When Skate. entered early access on September 16, 2025, it quickly turned into a cultural event. EA reported over 2 million players within its first week — before the official Season One had even started.
Just weeks later, Skate. shattered expectations with more than 15 million players, making it one of the most successful early access launches in EA’s history. This staggering number speaks to both the nostalgia surrounding the franchise and the appeal of its free-to-play
Wow thank you! Over 15 million players have jumped into San Vansterdam since we launched Early Access! Season 1 kicks off tomorrow, we can’t wait to skate the streets with everyone! pic.twitter.com/OmX03ct7He

Bugs, Glitches, and Servers on Life Support
Despite its booming start, Skate’s technical performance tells a very different story. Players have reported a flood of bizarre and frustrating bugs — from skaters getting stuck in the pavement to disappearing boards and physics glitches that send characters flying across the map.
Server issues have made things worse, with endless queue times, random disconnections, and wiped save files becoming alarmingly common. For many, what was supposed to be a chill skate session has turned into a test of patience.
The Irony Behind Skate’s “Freedom” Pitch
The irony isn’t lost on fans: Skate was built to capture the free spirit and creativity of real-world skate culture. Instead, it’s been bogged down by lag spikes, sync errors, and server crashes — especially in crowded multiplayer areas.
Even more frustrating, the game’s microtransactions appear to be running perfectly fine. While players struggle with bugs and crashes, the in-game shop remains smooth and stable — a detail that hasn’t gone unnoticed by the community.
Full Circle, the EA studio behind Skate, has promised rapid-fire patches to stabilize servers and fix critical issues. However, for many fans, the damage to first impressions may already be done.
What’s Next for Skate and Full Circle
Skate is available now in early access on PC (Epic Games Store, Steam), Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, and PlayStation 5 and 4. With its massive community and nostalgic appeal, it’s clear there’s still huge potential — if the developers can fix the game’s many issues before the hype dies down.
